Without a doubt, this is what annoys me most about China.
The Chinese colleage in the kitchen at work, taking 15 minutes to wash a tea cup under a full flowing fawcett. 500 litres of water for nothing. Me twiddling my thumbs behind.
The non stop opening and closing of doors for no reason. Endless mopping of floors with dirty water. Never ending pointless inefficiency.
Dear Mother in law... why does it take you a full 45 minutes of water on, water off, boiler on boiler off to wash your knickers in the bathroom sink?
Its all a fuss about nothing. Being busy just for the sake of it. Tick busy box.
Do you folk get annoyed by this?
Wow, sb who likes to knock others who point out flaws with China.
One of the flaws of the Soviet Union Commie system is that it doesn't distinguish between individual effort, everyone gets and is treated the same so why be efficient? The hard worker gets more work to do. And gets no extra recognition or pay.
I got at least three pet-peeves right now ~
1. I live in apartment with no hot-water tank. So, I have to run a good litre before hot appears. What a waste!
2. I live in a town with no Western fast-food except KFC. Why put three straws in my take away?? Why put three plastic spoons!
Such a lack of Environment Awareness here !!
I tell ya,, I'm sad to say it,, but humans are eating this planet and will disgorge a rotted shell.

There is a big movement in China (after the big party of the Party) about upgrading Chinese cans to attract more laowai tourists.
How's your (catch-as-catch) can?
I read at RT that Xi sparked the movement! Seriously!
I understood, anybody can get/should have better can in China.

haha,,, I knew it was too late for me to have started writing that entry. My 3rd is also with the KFC, I buy this meal set and it comes with the drink. They put the drink in it's own little plastic sack. It's aready in a paper-cup! I can carry a paper-cup! :/
I have had this exact discussion with the missus. Alan, you'll be familiar with the term 'footering'? Maybe it's just an Aberdonian thing. Anyway it's about pissing about and doing nonsense 'busy work'. The MIL is the worst for it. Can't sit still for five minutes, like she has worms.
The missus is getting better but only because I give her 'that face'.
It is all over here though; this constant, pointless 'busy work'. The four hundred people to do one persons job. The twenty workers per aisle in the supermarket, all recommending some shit. The person whose sole job it is to pass my money to the next person to put in the till.
Fucking chill people. Mao ain't coming back to slap you for not being busy.
This country is plagued with inefficiency and it especially pisses me off as a German. It's an Asian thing though, the same useless jobs also exist in Japan and Korea, I suspect that high population density is the root cause for it, there just isn't enough productive jobs for everyone no matter how big the economy gets.
This is only the tip of the iceburg. And I got the answer from a mainland elite recently that looked like the same answer to your issues. Ineffiency was not a random accident.
Here is the story. I read a local article on how mainlanders evade property control measures and taxes. Deceit, sure, that is a given. We all know that, but how?
Here is how. Yin Yang contracts, that is what they call it. Three sales contracts to be exact. 1). One for the bank. Higher sales price to obtain a bigger loan. The bank people all know it is a fake price. They want bigger mortgage deals, looks good on paper, reporting. 2). One for the tax department. This is lower than the real price, naturally. Pays less tax, even a high school kid can figure this out. ie the second lie 3). The real contract between the buyer and seller. Some even use a verbal contract to be safe. **shrug** 'you and I know I would wipe you and your family out in the middle of the night should I get one penny less' kind of thing, and each party knows the other would do that without a blink of the eye.
So, I asked my elite dalu contact, 'this is obviously a loophole in govenment administration. Why didn't anyone in CCP close it?'
He answered, 'everyone is making money out of it, who wants to fix it? Dig a hole, fill it back, repeat. Infinite loop is good for business!'
'Inefficiencies' like this have been an ingrained habit in communists regimes, I am afraid.
Cheating has become a mass mindset, a mentality. This mentality spreads to all aspects of life. Heck, prc commies invented 'win-win-win-win.....' long before the term win-win comes from the west! LoL

That is to waste time, putting on a show of hardworking, being productive. All this time in china you still don't know how deceitful commies thinking is? lol
Do you think the same low life does the same at home where he pays the hydro bill? Next time you visit a daluren's home check it out. If the guy/woman isn't washing something you go to their kitchen sink and wash something, your hands if there is nothing to wash. See if those low lives rush behind you and stare at the faucet water rushing out as if you are skinning them alive. LoL
You think they only fake food, rice, medicine, gutter oil, steal copyrights.......etc to earn a living? Fake hardworking, fake smile, fake love, fake frienship....etc. are all part of their 'cheating art'! I don't know how good your putonghua is. If it is conversational level watch a few red movies, especially the guerilla warfares ones and see what the heroes /heroine do.

You just found out the answer to your 'can someone tell me why communism is bad?' question in the let's debate thread.
That chinese colleague showed you why, at least one of the prime reasons.
