Q: Man on subway was eating a cracker which fell on me. What should I do?

I first brushed away the the cracker crumb (I sit, it fall on lap) very loudly, as loud as brushing can, and then I looked at him annoyed, but not say anything. He immediately put up hand to say "sorry" (I have headphones on).

Maybe because of my looking, he eventually walked away. What is very interesting is that he had large box of cookies, he may have continue to eat if I didn't do anything.

Make your time more enjoyable in China, brush the cracker away, and smile at him. We all have are bad days, but try to let the little things pass, you'll be happier.

Nessquick:

there is no way. after years here, it goes more bad. Do not know why. I make some brain training in a morning and talk to myself, be happy and fack this sh1t around, but than you cross road on green light and car is not willing to stop and let you go. 5 minits later you step in a metro and crowd will push just front of the fat guy, who is very loudly enjoying his sueijiao. beside of you someone, who really can not spare 2 minits at home for the personal hygiene is picking ears and clipping nails off. you suffer this 30minits , come to office and this sh1t continue. I have many times lot of good ideas, but yet I am not able to find a way, enjoy the daily shanghai "life"...

Well, it's not easy, especially in Shanghai. I personally don't know why foreigners go to live in Shanghai or any of the huge cities unless they have no other choice of job. Why not choose a place with better air, and less time commuting, quicker access to nice lakes or hikes, etc.

You're complaining about free food crumbs? I would have asked for a cookie.

I would poke him in the chest and then point at what he did. Then brush it away. I purposefully avoid eating Chinese on the bus, sometimes it is too difficult. I have seen this countless times involving other Chinese. They both usually seem to just ignore it. It  is important to correct bad behavior, smiling at it, means it is ok, feel free to do it again.

I avoid eating Chinese on the bus too, at home its OK.

there is weird theory behind this,,  give me a minute,,, I'll remember....

diverdude1:

oh yeah,,, the 'Broken Window' theory.   even though I usually go w/ Martians response and severly dog-out people who do stooooopid things,,, but, jeez,, metros are waaay crowded here.  gotta be a little 'Live & Let Live' too.  (especially if she's a hotty)

You should have screamed at him and stolen his food, then pissed on his shoes, eaten his food in front of him, then vomited it back in his face. Then kicked him in the balls. Then kicked him in the face. Then kicked him in the balls and in the face. But I mean, sure, all of this might seem excessive to some, but shit, these were crumbs for God's sake. And they landed on you. You would have to be a crazy person to allow such an outrage to pass unchecked.

I personally carry a gun wherever I go, and I have shot and killed nine people in as many years here. One of them was a seven year old boy, and truth be told I feel a little guilty about that, but his transformer was brushing against my arm in such a way that it caused an itch and I just lost it. These things happen.

Hulk:

You're fucked up, seriously. Shooting a kid? The rest is perfectly understandable, but not the kid part. I hope you get anally-investigated by the CCP.

WTF?  If it was pick-pocketing or something I'd get it.  Usually I consider myself lucky if I get off the underground not smelling of piss .

mArtiAn:

Haha, sorry man, I was actually trying to give that the thumbs up. I'm drunk.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
