On the US Customs website, it says the max you can bring into the USA is 10k cash without having to declare anything. However, i am reading horror stories about folks that brought in under 10k, and was questioned, and even had the funds confiscated. Anybody have any experience or heard any stories like this?

I've heard stories also. You'd have to prove where it came from. I lent my GF $5000 when we applied for a visa for her. I came home with $5000 in cash, and sweated it a little, but I don't rmember anyone asking me how much cash I had. I think I have had that asked before. I had the money in a money belt under my clothes and never took it off.
It's stupid really, like what kind of big drug deal can you do for $10,000?
I think you should be stick according to to the rule....if your guys question anything beyond your law..you can tell them and teach them law..
You can bring as much cash as you want to. But if it's over 10k usd, then you're supposed to fill out the IRS form declaring it as income (or whatever it might be). In my experience, I've never been asked about cash, or checked. I've brought over $9900 several times....kept it under the limit to be safe. But I do know of a fellow who brought over 30k before....no problems. You'd be surprised how small and inconspicuous you make a big wad of $100 bills
Yes, one time I still had $450 dollars on me when I returned to the USA and they questioned me about it
they have never once asked me about money 450.00 lmao thats chump change you can carry any amount u like you do have to declare anything over 10000.00 dollars or you can just send it western union to your family members or just do a bank transfer
