Car.  Screw being wedged into an already overfilled bus full of stinky, sweaty sardines.

Computer fan, clothes folder, multi-function charger. To be fair none of those are particularly Chinese but I got them on the cheap!

Yeh, those folding toilets are excellent, i've got one myself. I also use it on the weekends as a handy 'carry-chair' when I go fishing.

Headphones! For all those times people feel the need to let the world in on their taste in music. I will neeever get used to that. Sitting in a public place and being forced to listen to 'Nobody, nobody but you' at an obscene volume. Come on man....

I've never seen what you just described about the squat toilet thing, but I'll keep that in mind next time I'm out shopping. For me I would say my bike. Ever since I got here I was walking on foot everywhere. At the time they hadn't built the subway line that was close to where I live now. So I bought a bike and rode it for leisure and whenever I needed to get somewhere fast. It really saved me lots of time and helped me to get more rest when I was working at a school just about a half a mile where I am currently living.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
