Back home I had always a few dogs around, had a big back yard too.

I saw them more than once while vomiting, and afterwards they always will start eating grass.  For a few days they were quiet and sleeping most of the time, and continued eating grass, will not touch regular dog food.

Within 5 days the diarrhea and vomiting will cease, and they were out of it.  They never went to a Vet due to this, no one died.

I am not saying this is your case, and I am no doctor either.  But to get someone else (a Vet) to see your puppy during these holidays is almost like hitting the 7 numbers on a Power Ball lottery.  Good luck to you.

Please, do not force the dog to eat anything.  I would place a bowl with water and some sugar near him, and let him decide if he wants it or not.  Keep him warm, and continue bugging the Vets for an appointment, please. 

Check your house for anything he could have gotten into   (cleaning stuff )
and anything that you may have put down on the floor to clean it in the last week.
Im not a vet either but I do know that not everything is ingested and can be obsorbed through the paws
keep the water up so does not get dehydrated.
is there any medical universitys near you.

It sounds like your puppy has gastritis.  This is usually caused by eating or drinking something a bit off and/or eating grass.  If he/she is sleeping a lot and not moving, it's because he/she has a fever.
