Q: National Censorship Day - how will you celebrate it?

NCD - aka "Mushroom Day", "Freedom is Evil Day" and "Knowledge is Powerlessness Day"

Comes around this time every year for the last couple of decades..

What will you do?

I've got a mainlander who's just left the country for the first time in her life...

Edit: Oooh, this one scored a CRIT!!

Sit in a dark room and wait for the enlightenment of the party.

I've been reading comments from the wumao army on Washington Post. They seem to have a problem with the truth.

Won't let me comment to sam239 so I'll reply here. I read a comment piece on the Guardian this morning written by someone who has been censored for the last 25 years.....my god the Wu Mao's were out in force on that article! They must be paying them double time for working on Dragon Boat festival holiday!

I shall read nothing, hear nothing and see nothing that has not been approved by the benign leadership of this great nation. I shall spend my day contemplating the joys of ignorance and the extreme wisdom of the party in bestowing such gifts upon the people in the name of harmony. Then I will wake up the next day and go back to normal having thought " fuck that was a waste of time".

I just spent a good portion of my day letting my wife see what happened on that day, thanks to our unnrestricted internet access here in 'murica.

She wasn't happy about it... It really hurt her to see the truth.

DrMonkey:

Last year, mine bought (by her own decision) the Chinese translation of Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China by Ezra Vogel. It documents the event in details, and capture well the complexity and the evolution of the whole thing. Ezra Vogel have a track record of really well-studied books.

Interestingly enough, /r/ChinaCircleJerk on Reddit got banned, and so did like hundreds of posters. The NCD Squad likely put a lot of pressure on Reddit to get rid of that subreddit, and to ban thousands of people from posting in /r/China.

And we had some guy come here preaching the virtues of Reddit, lol. This is why I don't post on Reddit.
