Q: New rules at hostels in Shanghai

In Shanghai, there are  three hostels called Mingtown east nanjing road youth hostel,Hiker youth hostel,People's square youth hostel.

The three are belonging to one boss, these hostels make new rules like chinese can't live there more than 1 month, foreigners can't live there more than 1.5 months,as the time come, you have to leave.people say these hostels want to bring more fresh people to live here to make many people to kown these hostels, but these new rules make people live there uncomfortable. Many young people(chinese and foreigners)come to to this city to look for job and then apartment,so they need a place to stay for several month at first, and put their luggage down there also.I am lazy to find an apartment, but now seems like I need to rent my own apartment to get away these uncomfortable rules. And these receptionists are  usually not nice to chinese clients live there.

How you think about these hostels?

I have to live in the hostel until I find my room or apartment anyway.Chinese hostels are cheaper and boring,so I choosed to live in the international hostels at first.

it can be a nightmare getting rid of a tenant, im guessing it has something to do with this since its these "3" hostels that applied these rules and they all belong to the same person

Victoria1987:

The people's square hostel kown I am working in Shanghai, they don't wanna me live there more 5 days,it is bad that they lied to me there has no room availbale. Some receptionists are rude and bad. They treat chinese people badly in the hostel, all chinese people tell so.They treat us like we are poor people or something, actually the chinese people can afford to live in the hostel for several monthes are not really poor,we earn RMB,it is much cheaper to rent rather than living in the international hostels.

when I am out for short travling I am living in the nice hotel, but for living here for a very long time before I find a apartment,I can't afford to live in the hotel everyday ,that is too expensive.
