Q: New user-moderated Answers Forum
ECC Answers Forum users,
In order to improve the Answers section, we have chosen two regular users to help us ensure that posts are adhering to the forum's policies.
If you frequent the site, you have probably noticed it has been neglected, and posters have gotten away with content that should have been unpublished. By involving user moderators, we will see an improvement in the overall quality of questions and comments.
Can I ask who they are?

ECC will keep them anonymous, however if they wish to, they can announce their involvement.

One of my responses to cub was harmonised this week. I got an email to notify me using that word that he is so fond of, "profanity".
I thought it was standard practice for website moderators to be known to prevent agenda driven moderation.

I hope that these 2 will have access to the 'report abuse' messages that will go through.
Moderation is great - in moderation. But I think if the report button is actually working, then there will be a much lesser need to have constant forum monitoring.
Also, moderate by the post - not the person.
Most profanity is not deleted. Only offensive attacks on other users.
Vicki and cub are not the moderators, or have any relationship with us at ECC.
I can ensure that the moderators are respected, regular users on this site.

By my experience, society will be more lenient toward one, who's number of the test isn't too high. Go for it, and tell us your number.
I can't reveal mine in return, but I can tell you I possess ability to determine poster's IQ just by reading replies and comments! In few different languages.
Now that I have been outed, do you think this experiment is worth continuing? Is the forum tidier without double posts for example? Do you feel comfortable with me as a user mod. Or would you prefer it was not me?

Phil, we can't know ScotsAlan's mind, but it is not immediately narcissistic to ask what people think of a situation that would be a "conflict of interest". When he PMed me, I guessed he was going to spill the beans soon enough. A mistake IMO. People have been nagging admin to moderate more for years, and it seems a good choice to let regulars help out. It was suggested often. And Scots was a natural choice for his centre-left, often pro-establishment views, and limited criticisms of China. I support him because he has demonstrated an ability to admit error and adjust views based on persuasive arguments. This is a mod you can make an appeal to, and he might even reverse a decision if he is convinved it was unfair. It's also what makes him vulnerable now his identity is out. Scots will learn the hard way that an authority figure must either be an arsehole, appear to be an arsehole, or be dismissed after mounting resentment and controversy.
The user moderated site ecperiment is an unmitigated failure. On the one hand we have one mod who outted himself early on. He appears to be drunk on the Pope's blood and has become even more pontificating than before and seems compelled by a mysterious force to answer each and every reply and comment on evey thread without having tue nous to understand the simple poonts being made. It's embarrassing.
And on the otjer hand a more secretive and conservative mod who seems intent on creating a happy-clapper camp and tattle-taling to admin at the drop of a hat.
It takes a special kind of wannabe to narc on other users. And they get no remuneration to behave like arrogant dicks, just the satisfaction of being able to throw their meagre weight around like class monitors. It's sad.
