Q: nightmare school problems

i have been working at my new school for 2 months.

they only have just starting getting my new fec and my rp is valid till december 2014.

however the first month they paid the salary in full 7500 yuan then this month one week late payment only 5000 out of 7500 yuan.

ive asked my fao she keeps saying ask the boss and emailed my boss but no replies about the 2500 yuan shortcoming.as my new school has just apply for fec should i report them.

the other thing is that give me too many classes and too much work but the next payday is 18 days away what are my options report them now or wait till next payday and see if they pay or not.

and i want to go back to australia can i leave the nightmare school.

then go to australia for a holiday without getting a visa.and go to another city when i coome back.

I assume you signed a contract. Read carefully the contract, especially what it says about your income and your work time. If you see that the contract is violated (at least on the income, it seems it does), go see the big boss (not the subordinates) directly and quietly explain the problem. If somehow the big boss can not be found, explain that if you can not see him during the day, you go report the situation to the SAFEA office.

If the boss fails to show up and fix things after 24 hours, go to the closest SAFEA office and report them. Have your stuffs ready to move in two minutes in case shit hits the fan. If you leave the country without a formal release letter from your employer, you might be in trouble to come back work in China.

Ho, and you would probably help yourself and future colleagues by mentioning which school, eventually which agent you're working with.

as per DrMonkey, plus

email your boss directly stating clearly and simply what the problem is.

then he/she can't deny being aware of the problem.

if the boss claims not to understand english, have the same email written in chinese - get help on this.

a phone call/text message can be 'lost / misinterpreted': a clearly worded email is harder to ignore and you have proof of your problem

the more documents you have to support your case, the more likely you will receive what is owed.

Before doing anything I suggest you check all the documents. Is the RP in the school's address, FEC as well? In many cases, the address isn't the school you work for so you are already in violation. Does your contract say how many teaching hours or just hours? Teaching hours may mean 90 minutes per teaching hour. How many classes were you supposed to take ? Again, this can be very ambiguous, check the wording and how it's interpreted. Look at all your documents again then decide your course of action. If you dont have documents to back you up, then you've been had.

'leave School and keep Residence permit'

1. Find one (or more) article on the Contract, your employer doesn't respect, i.e. ' late salary', 'apartment not suitable for living (no TV or kitchen)', 'required to work more hours than per Contract', and so on;

2. Find new employer (RP sponsor);

3. Give Resignation notice to the School. Make 2 copies.

If possible, try to respect Resignation notice (usually 30 days) on the Contract, unless cause for quitting require immediate termination.

4. Visit SAFEA in the city with copy of RN. It is the same office, where you got Foreign Expert Certificate. Usually, big Gov. building with loads of flags outside. Other name is Foreign Expert Bureau. If you are in the smaller city, you might need translator for interview at SAFEA.

SAFEA will help you further in process of changing employer, and keep your RP intact.

For new employer, you'll need FEC Cancelation certificate and Release letter.

SAFEA will talk to your School, so advice is your record at School is good. If School has complains on your work (late or miss classes, drunk,...) I'm not sure about outcome.

Good luck!

Post the name of the School or agent you're working with, as warning to other Foreign teachers!

Consider that request as 'Thank you!' for free advices you got!

I hope he will tell us which school/agent is about. That would be so useful.

It never happened, yet!

Maybe, we shouldn't reply till we don't have name of the School. I'll try next time.

But, then we'll need 'sticky notes' at eChina. Same as at Dave's Board.

Indeed, it looks like  a nightmare and you better find your gateway as soon as possible. It has the very great chance to get it uglier.

This is not OP's first post. This time, OP is using 'improved' English.

The OP will never name the so-called school as it is another bullshit story. The OP claims to be a teacher from Australia but his/her use of English is even too poor for a Bogan.

"They only have just starting getting my new fec"

Lots of questions but not once used "?" at the end.

What contentious things have been posted on here in the last 12 hours that have brought the Wu Maos out in force to flood these forums with inane, copied, questions?

(Sorry...I'm in a really anal mood tonight!)

Has something changed in the world recently?  Have we been invaded by Martians who have been sent to Earth to harvest "shift" keys?

They have even visited sorrel. She has been left shiftless !!  For the first time ever, I saw a post from sorrel that I did not give an "up thumbs" to. The Martians have nicked her shift key too.

I am not against evolution of language. But this is too much change in too short a time, and nobody sent me an email to say it had changed. Bah humbug!!

Come on English teachers !!!  At least have a go at displaying your knowledge of the language. It is your job after all.
