Q: No degree required?

I'm seeing a lot of job listings on this site that says "no degree required", but they still claim to help you secure a Z visa. What's the danger or risk in taking some of these positions?

Happy New Year, everyone!

the better question is why does a website concerned about the feelings of chinese harmony take advertising that is a violation of the law in china. feelings are more important than law for harmony i suppose, great country.

If you get hired as a 'consultant' or other non-educational title/role, then youi wouldn't need a degree. and thus, RP is possible.

Of course, it would still be illegal to teach!

Also, it may mean "we can just get you a fake degree".

'cause there is a lack of FTs in China, i.e. 'we take anybody'.

You must have BA, 2-years of working experience, Native English passport (in some Provinces) for Z visa, which is the only legal visa for work in China.

I was interviewed by Chinese Embassy employer about my 'teaching experience' last time I applied for Z in my home country (2013), before Z was granted. There weren't only Qs about 'English teaching experience', but also Qs about my impressions from China.

I'd say almost certainly, you can't pass at Chinese Embassy for Z visa without degree.

Job offer without degree required will almost certainly get you 3-months F visa, which isn't right visa for work in China, i.e. 'you'll be working illegally'.

What's really pathetic about this whole situation is that the government will invest lots of time, effort and money to label foreign talent, and to hunt down illegals... but do absolutely nothing about these job adverts that are blatantly snubbing their nose at the law. I mean, how much easier would it be to prosecute such a case, than publicly aired confessions???

retiredinchina:

if the government is cracking down on new school permits and schools are opening anyway without a permit to meet demand, then the school would not really care what your qualifications are, they have nothing else to lose since they are already illegal. some of the ads on craigslist.org are actually services for fake degrees and the job posting is headed "no degree required" to get people to read the add and buy a fake copy, bait and switch marketing performed flawlessly.

Didn't you know the "No Degree" scam is just that a scam because police make 2000 RMB for every illegal worker they catch. Just search on Wechat article search: police bust illegal teachers with fake job ads.

Hotwater:

So by adding 2+2 we can say that ECC, by not removing these ads, are basically colluding with the police!

I saw job advert here with 'several locations around China, but Non's accepted only in Beijing', i.e. Native English won't consider Bj.

Schools are clearly becoming desperate to fill open positions, as experienced 'foreign talent' is doing research on living conditions in China and deciding it is not an attractive place to live and work anymore.

I am finding that more people i know are making exit plans now as work and living conditions are becoming more difficult. some of those replacing the experienced are barely meeting minimum requirements (some can barely speak English themselves).

But then this also means that some schools are finding that they can not afford to be as racist when it comes to hiring, which has to be a good thing for those who have up till now have been discriminated against when looking for work.

However, this seems like cheats and scammers are still out there, thinking that they are 'clever' by luring in the unwary and naive.

Bottom line - do your research and ask questions before you sign.

Ask to see 'laowai hire authorization/license' from School you want to sign in, especially if you're transferring Residence permit from one sponsor to another one!

Nobody is listening or just too stupid to remember what your dad told you: Son, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Schools are not as desperate as the ones who make and post those "No Degree required" ads. This has been going on for 2 years now. Wake up guys.

I want to see Contract on offer and 'laowai hire cert', since I signed Contract in Henan (2013) with Public School and at my arrival rep. told me 'laowai cert.' is in working.

I had to exit and apply for new Z in my home. School funded return trip.
