Q: Northerners fight, southerners argue?

I've heard lots of Chinese throw out this stereotype. Depending on where you live, you find any truth to that?

I spent years up north but I just moved to Guilin a couple months ago.

It seems like northerners threaten each other a lot, but I've only seen two slap/pushing-fights break out. Here in Guilin people seem to be pretty mellow on the whole, and a lot more forgiving of things that would mean a lot of screaming and threats elsewhere. That being said, my new neighbours will bicker till two in the morning and there will be a lot of smashing sounds.

I'd say northerners talk a big game more than anything. I feel bad for the ones who want to move abroad because I don't think they're used to making a lot of threats but wouldn't know what to do if they got in a real fight.

Where were u in the North?

My younger brother spent a lot time in hospital. Either he got hurt, or he hurt someone, or his friends got hurt or hurt someone. And his gf is a nurse.

That means, we fight a lot in North China. Even me, I don't like to quarrel, words is powerless isn't it? I fought a lot when I was young too. Now I have to tolerate and pretend to be like a lady, God said love is tolerance. Amen.

I've been living in Northern-china (Daqing) for 2 years and never heard such saying. But, I've seen many times people quarreling or fighting in any places..either man-to-man or man-to-woman like a couple, of course with thunder-like voice! I always scared to see fighting back home, but I am now getting used to it--after a while living here.

Another thing I've seen a lot in the city is: 'silent' car accident! People seem to be more calm and well-controlled when it comes to car accident, but so loud and could be pretty annoying when it comes to social interaction.

This is quite surprising because back home I used to see people yelling, quarreling, and get so angry when they got car accident. I am wondering if that's because of the car insurance? I am aware not so many people have car insurance back home (other asian country), but here I suspect more people got insurance for their car.. I really don't know..
