I would comment, but seeing as how I don't wanna commit suicide whilst incarcerated on some trumped-up charge I think I will actually let my reason take charge of my actions instead of my passion.

It's a pathetic response! The planes needed to make an emergency landing, what were they supposed to do? Swim?
Taiwan is not part of the PRC thus China has nothing to say about that.
If tomorrow Cuba decides to allow two Chinese fighter jets to land on its territory, the US have nothing to say.
Countries are sovereign. It's that easy.
ScotsAlan:
Erm, actually it is. One country two systems. On the other hand, The Republic of China has a similar deal with The Peoples Republic of China, one country, two systems. Each considers the other part of its soverign state. And... the PRC does have the better claim, given the outcome of the civil war.
Eorthisio:
Erm, Taiwan is a part of China as a civilization, not a part of the People's Republic of China, know the difference.
Same scenario, Sri Lanka is a part of India as a civilization, not a part of the Republic of India.
The only difference being India doesn't give a fudge about Sri Lanka, but technically (in the same logic used by the PRC for Taiwan) they could claim it as part of their territory, they could also claim Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan. They might never claim Bhutan and Nepal since these are resourceless mountainous places, virtually useless. They might claim Sri Lanka for its EEZ that is quite large. Bangladesh is a fertile plain for grain. Pakistan I doubt it unless the Islamic government collapses or India becomes an economic powerhouse like China but I don't see this happening before at least 2050.
ScotsAlan:
But the countries you mention have recognition from other states as soverign nations. Taiwan does not. But given American foreign policy over cross straights relations, I am not surprised China is unhappy. A better equivilent scenario would be Iranian military jets doing emergency landings in Palistinian territory.
