Q: ok, got new shoes, and confident they are well made, at a reasonable China price

now I need a couple new pairs of jeans....  sure the ones I brought with me are at least 7-8 years old.... not wore out, but I am on a clothing binge (like my wife does weekly) ...without paying ludicrous prices, wonder what the chances of my getting a comparable pair here, comparable to what they made for me as an export product.

Jeans are such bad quality and so thin in material here in China, so I usually have friends that are traveling back to China pick up some Levi's at Walmart for 30 dollars or Wranglers for 20 dollars. However, my Canadian friend just brought some Levis and Wranglers and the quality was disappointing, it seems Walmart is getting the jeans from Bangladesh instead of Mexico and the fabric was thinner than expected. Levis owns the Wrangler brand, so both pairs were made there.

BHGAL:

don't we all like our jeans and yes Levi is my preference. and they do last, at least the ones I got at home did/do. hate the thoughts of turning into my wife and having to go get  more clothes every month, because last months purchase is garbage.

BHGAL:

another little piece of bwareness...  I recall asking a very nice guy on Bijing street if he had a pair of pants in a different size than the one I found in the store. He said let me check. and disappeared for a minute or two and came back with a pair that had the size I requested on the label.....  lucky me... last pair.....    it was the same pair of pants that I asked him to upsize....   I did not fall for it.....  maybe I look foreign stupid, but not that bad...not really an eye opening experience, but certainly a memorable one....  buying on the street is "buyer beware".

See UK Fat Face for quality at your next jeans venture surprise .

At some 4y per pair, one must pay attention only to the belly size.

BHGAL:

smart ass

and does the price include suspenders?

That's the trade mark's name. I am buying it for the last 15y. Jeans made in Tunnisia.

I always thought, FF clothes were made in Vietnam, because of the high quality and 100% cotton mark attached everywhere. They have an online store, too.

I was visiting GZ a couple years ago and my buddy took me to a dress shoe factory outlet that had good stuff at very nice prices.

2 years later both pairs I got still look good still in the rotation get tons of use.

I've NEVER seen deals on jeans here though. Local brands don't last and don't fit right to begin with. And i'm not some crazy body type for pants either I have a <31 inch waist. They're just badly made jeans.

And then the good intl brands here are outrageous.

just curious again...  what does a pair of "decent" jeans cost  back home?  Canada or USA.

WALMART  is ???  my simple mind thinks I can get a pair  for $20,  (100rmb), but I have a feeling they are more than that.

this may seem like a simpleton stupid query... it is not stupid.... supply and demand stuff exists here,,,, evolving city.... often they pay too much for stuff for "FACE" ... and there is demand, so silly me has to pay the demand price or go elsewhere. elsewhere is taobao and for sure get sub-standard garbage delivered promptly or a trip to Hong Kong that will without doubt cost more for the clothes and the night at the horse race track .....what a dilemma for a pair of jeans

expatlife26:

You go to a discounter like Marshalls or TJ Maxx or Ross you can get a perfectly decent pair of jeans for $30-50.

I mean not like calvin klein or guess expensive ones, but a decent pair of levi's, wrangler, lucky etc.

And those will last years.

I bought once pair of Chinese made jeans in Dalian Uniqlo. Chinese mix cotton with polyester, so jeans sucks. You can spot that right away by touching the pockets. Price was around 100 rambos.

GAP in China has garments made in Vietnam, if you must buy it.... I usually wait for the UK trip and purchase everything in FF. My shoes are also UK hand -real leather- made. In China, shoes are all made out of fake leather.

There's also Japanese trade mark garment store (don't recall the name now - ''Fly-'something'') in HK (TST) with high quality and expensive stuff.

whocaresreally:

The jeans I got recently came from Walmart in Mission, British Columbia.

Levis were 29.94, and the Wranglers were 12.97, size 40 x 32, 5% GST, 7%PST,

1 levi, 2 wangler, total $62.58, purchase date Jan 17, 2016, friend picked them up for me during Spring Festival.

small world, I was in the Mission BC Wal Mart just 6 years ago.... do I know you?

a silly little thing I just learned, thanks to my silly question.... a decent pair of jeans should have at least 7 belt loop things...... not 5 or 6.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
