Q: Qinhuangdao, Hebei, what's it like to live there?

Hi everyone

Ive been offered work in this coastal city and before I accept I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any advice to offer as to laowei living conditions - such as prevalence of coffee shops, yoga classes, any tourist diversions to take in on days off, bars and clubs, supermarkets stocking imported foodstuffs, other foreigners to have a beer with, etc. Thanks for any insights.

Any specific concerns, just let me know.  Also it has a great zoo ... not cages and the like but a great huge open air preserve .. like Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Katet, it is actually a quite pleasant well developed level two Chinese city.  Coffee shops in relative abundance. Plenty of bars if you drink...just remember never to take an open drink... TESCO, Dar N Fa, other major supermarkets.  What you can't find, simply order from taobao.. they stock nearly everything.  It's on the G and M train routes so you can get most places in China in less than twelve hours. OK regional airport, just OK, not great. Bitterly cold and long winters, short spring, long summer-into-autumn.
