Today I needed to use a VPN to access Shanghaiist.com. Have you noticed any other random sites that are inaccessible without using a VPN?

yes, this site too earlier..I am a simple man... just do not get the "WHY" of why they do it. Where there is a will, there is a way. attempting to deny "WILL" seems to me, to be counter productive.
Denying access to information just seems so silly, to me.
oh,,, that's why Shanghaiist ain't opening..... I thought it was maybe just lame internet access @ this hotel....

We are in a funny period of time at the moment.
You will find things will tighten up across the board in the near future.
I doubt it will be for ever but it will take time to move forward again.
Stiggs:
There is a big government meeting in October, the internet always gets near unusable just before one of them.
Censorship. Ours is always the 'truth', if you don't have evidence it's a lie.
Yup.
I am a fish fan. Keeping them and catching them. Even turtles.
If I bing ' goldfish forums UK', i get a stupid amount of 'no internet connection' messages when I click.
Stiggs:
Those evil forums, where people express opinions...
Don't you know mate? You can't be allowed to have an opinion unless you've spent your life in a system that removes your ability to form your own opinion. Then you'll be issued an opinion and given access to a forum where the other half billion users all share the same opinion as you so that you won't feel lonely.
It's for your own protection, if you're exposed to the wrong opinion then your feelings will be hurt, and maybe you will feel sad and won't be able to study.
maybe China doesn't want people to see which of their published academic papers have been rescinded/retracted due to falsified results, plaragised content and falsified peer reviews.
Some odd search results from Bing on my phone too. An example from today....
