Q: rent car to someone?

i am planning to buy a new car... but has not figured out what to do with the old one. Selling it means wasting a lot of money.. its better to use the old one 2-3 more years then..

Is there any other way to get some return from the investment?.. like renting it to someone? is there any companies which can take it on a long term rental? will that be profitable? will i get into trouble in case of accidents?

The old car is a black mondeo - 4yrs old. 120000kms.

China's second hand market is very immature. Did you ask the dealer if they will take it if you buy a new car

Thakkudu:

yes they will.. but as i said.. price too low.. ~110000... considering the car is well managed and maintained - its still good enough as 1 year old when i use it.. original price was 225000... so its like worth 180000 for me when i use it myself... so doesnt feel like selling it for 110000 :(

may be i will keep it for 2more yrs.... rental business is headache and not worth the risk as i got info here :(

Scandinavian:

The rule of thumb I grew up with was. The first 10 meters, of the dealers curb, is where your car drops 30% in value. The cost of the new car smell is high. I would agree you car should be able to fetch 150k.

If it runs without problems, keep driving it. You will not get a significant bump up in comfort (or face) unless you go for a BMW/Merc/Lexus. But then the numbers will look less favorable.

it is a nicer car though. I think I would personally keep the Ford longer, when it's been used a year or two more, then the gap between actaul value and the price you can get for it will be smaller

You could rent the car to someone, but if you do it would sort of be like a business. Even though you rent it out things can happen to the car. You never know in these kind of situations. Your best bet would be to sell it and get it off your hands as quickly as possible. BHGAL seems pretty desperate as he shows signs of shouting to get his voice heard over there. (Drunk!

He he, I said: "voice"!

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
