Q: Riding my motorbike into Tibet through Yunnan!

Hi,

My name is Marc and im from the Uk.I am currently in China Guizhou province. I own my own motorbike and am planing to ride into Tibet this June. What documents do I need to have and where should I go to get them? I hear recently that Foreigners cannot travel freely in Tibet, is this true? I have a Chinese visa and everything else. My motorbike also has a license plate that is registered in my name.

Gees mate, what a great plan!  Sorry, can't help you though.

What's your planned route?  If it's up through Dali I suggest you stop a while and rest there.

All the best to you!

Write 'Tibet' in the search bar above, and you'll get few treads opened before about Tibet.

Good ride!

seems Like there is no way for me to go on my motorbike, they dont give out personal travel passes to Foreigners.

icnif77:

Did you find more info on old treads? You could also hit PSB with that Q for definite info about permits for Tibet.

i went there today and asked many times about it, they dont know nothing about this. All they say is just take your passport and go there directly.

icnif77:

No, don't go! Look here at old treads. Then, try with SAFEA (Foreign Expert Bureau). You're FT, I guess that qualify for FEB's help.

Awesome! I remembered my own road trip in Australia, Melbourne to Perth. Great Ocean Road all the way across the Nallubur. Took all of 5 days on a slow and easy ride. Go for it man! It'll be an experience of a lifetime.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
