My old Samsung phone is broken after like 3 years of using. I am looking for a new phone. I heard Huawei is good too.
All I need is a phone I can use wechat, whatsapp, message, calls, and camers. Just something cheap but not bad quality.
Any recomendation?
Budget around 800-1200rmb
Samsung and Huawei both suck, if history has taught us anything, its that no matter how much ram or CPU speed a phone has LAG will always be an issue. I use a Samsung S7 Edge and it lags & lags, so I had to fix it with sacrifice and settings.
Tip to Samsung users: The Theme your phone is using is a big part of whats slowing down your phone, go to theme and download a free theme with low MG. like 1~6MG
I bought a Xiaomi phone and it does all that you are asking. It has been very reliable for me and it costs far less than the two brands you were asking about.
iWolf:
I concur. I've had my xiaomi for about 3 years. It still does the job. I'm sure there are much better phones around but bang for buck i doubt you'd do better. Viki, just have a look a www.xiaomi.com (i think)

To say that you look down on someone not using a high end phone is silly. The majority of people have some sort of cover for their phone that hides the logo of the phone. Thankfully I am no longer part of the "keeping up with the Jones" society.
diverdude1:
I betcha Iron was being facetious. I know you know that Nash, but I just thought I would point it out. The reason I am doing so is that it has been my experience that many Asians many times do not pick up on Western humor, sarcasm, or irony.
Facetious (adj.)
1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally. A facetious remark.
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous: a facetious person.
I've had my 1000rmb huawei for about 3 years and its still doing ok.
I liked the expensive samsung I had before this one but didn't see the point of spending more on a phone.
Viki87:
That's right. Why spend money on a phone? I won't see it as a priority in my life. I prefer spending on roses
If not for making myself look too cheap in meeting customers, a 100rmb phone is enough for me. I can login wechat on my ipad if I need to message a friend.
Huawei screwed up the Nexus 6 phone but I'm surprised how it was downplayed
Did Samsung grow out of their all 'catching on fire' phase?
Viki, you raise a good point about using your ipad for wechat. Why not? And just buy a nokia candy bar type phone for calls. The battery life is great. Who cares what people who have to carry a powerbank think in a meeting? It would actually show you are savvy, not cheap!

I'd go for Xiaomi. In case of Samsung you are basically paying for the brand. not worthy IMO
Vivo is packed with power and I would only choose this if I was going for a China Phone.
If there is a war on the Korean peninsula, the Samsung phones will double in price, and it might be impossible to get one in China. So get a Huawei.
ironman510:
Haha maybe the Samsung Note 7 was designed for a reason. War boom phones
I went to a Huawei store, there are phones around 1200-1500rmb. But I have been told that those phones can't be used in the overseas, the sales in the Huawei shop recommended me to buy a phone costes more than 2000rmb and it can be used in the overseas. I don't want to spend more than 2000rmb on a mobile phone.
Anyone knows a phone which is not expensive but can be used in the overseas?
Stiggs:
Did they say why it can't be used overseas, and what countries they mean when they say overseas?
I've used my huawei in at least three different countries outside of China, it could be four but I don't remember when I bought it exactly.
Oppo R9 is very good
Viki87:
How much is Oppo R9 or R11?
My old phone can still receive calls but the camera is broken and the screen is damaged.
I'll need a new smart phone for taking pictures and show customers on WhatsApp, but not very urgent now. So I would like to take time to find a good phone.
RobRocks:
not sure how much the oppo R9 is as my wife got it for my birthday
wanna buy my iPhone 6s+ ? Near perfect condition. I am just ready for a new one,,, the Huawei Magic. Love that friggin' wrap-around screen!
Maybe Echinacities will offer phones in their redeem points lol
ironman510:
Or they can create the "Echina~Phone." 20 GB Ram included and 1TB of memory. .
I got the samsung c9 pro for 800 RMB during their whole "destroy everything Korean made" tantrum. My Chinese fiance's words, "good discounts happen when everyone else is starting to feel 'patriotic'."
It does its job wonderfully.
Viki87:
Mobile phone isn't even invented by Chinese, nothing needed to feel patriotic.
Huawei is more like a copy to me.
To me it's not the phone as much as it's the OS. I've not really researched the matter, but if I remember correctly, it seems like I have heard quite a few complaints about Android. That's why I went ahead and paid the extra money for the iPhone, because I am very comfortable with iOS 10.3. I also like the way my iPhone, MacBook, and iPad Pro all work together. Because when you think about it, really the iPhone is just a small tablet that can make a phone call too.
Everyone around my school is talking about, lusting for, the Huawei Honor Magic. I think it looks badass too, but like I said I'm a bit worried about Android.
How has you guys Android experience been?
Now I am making choices among three phone, which one will you recommend?
Samsung 16GB Can used in foreign countries, 1099RMB, small screen.
Huawei 32GB, can be used in foreign countries, around 1499rmb, big screen
Huawei 64GB, can be used in foreign countries, 1650rmb, big screen
Viki87:
I need a new mobile to go meet customer in exhibition next month. Can't wait...
My phone's broken a bit and I worry it might look bad when meets customers.
And I am already in the mobile shopping mall, I don't want to come again and again for checking mobiles.Spent 1647rmb to get a Huawei phone, then regret. I didn't think through while in the mall full of beautiful phones. I should just spent around 700-1000 get a hongmi phone or Samsung phone.
I wasted so much money on a phone, not worth it.
diverdude1:
well, Huawei is pretty strong. The Huawei Honor Magic is giving competition to best Samsung and Iphone,, at half the price. Viki,,, buyer remorse happens to everyone, but I bet you got a good phone at a good deal. Enjoy it and remember, we are getting twice the tech at half the price of a few years ago.
Viki87:
The phone is very nice, I liked it. The system, the music, the quality and its golden looking, beautiful. But still I regret on spending that amount. I tried to not spend much time on phone, that is a waste of my time. I tried to bring a pocket book with me so I could read on the subway while I go around, haha then I learnt rather than get my time wasted by playing my phone like many people do
My phone is mainly for business and for family calls.
I really feel friends can just contact me through email. I found emails are classy.
