Q: Shoud I change of job?

Hello to everyone. I am not a native speaker, so sorry about my english I am from France.

I am working right know in Beijing for a chinese company, all of the employees including the manager are chinese the company is not very big we are 10 people in the office. The point is that the manager usually doesn,t come to the office and when he comes just for one or two hours, for instance last week he didn,t appear in the office just talking on msn. I need to deal many things about cutomers, quotations, etc but i cannot do it.  I asked to the other employees and no one knows anything, they think is very common.  In addition the salary should arrive the first of every month and all the time arrives two or three days late, I am really pissed off!!!.

Do you have the same situation??, Is this very common in China?. Shoud I change of job?. What i feel is that many chinese just work for money, doesn,t wok for enjoy, they don,t like what they are doing.  If my manager really likes what he is doing he should arrive in the office every day and try that the company develops better

Thank you

People only caring about the paycheck here is very, very common.  If they find another job that even pays them 5% more, they are gone.  Unless it is a government job.  Then they stick around for ever.  But even then, they don't really care about what they do.  They only care about the stability.

And to be honest, I can't really blame the ones that job jump.  Most Chinese boss's are horrible and do nothing to inspire employees to care.  They believe that you maintain control by making your staff feel worthless and by micro-managing every aspect.

Then there are the other bosses like yours that really don't care about the job either.  And they are just as bad as the other types in my opinion.

if you don't mind me asking what is the salary and job title? it might be difficult to find a new job in that field for a foreigner. this is actually quite normal for chinese businesses which is why i don't work in an office.

i really can't tell you anything. but i have a lot of questions.

What is your purpose in china?

Is your paperwork and visa legit?

How long have you been in china? at the company?

How long has the company been in business? (be ready for that ship to sink)

-If you get paid, and are on a Z visa, I would not worry

-Time is nice, but a few days late every month is nothing to worry about.

-The Z visa is very important. It means your employer is legally allowed to hire a foreigner. No Z visa means he is breaking the law by having you work there, unless you are with a multi-national for a short time, consulting basis.

Yeh, Chinese only care about the check, bla, bla, bla, Chinese companies no good, no happy for poor French man, bla, bla, bla. Shit, what would you do back home? Tell your boss to shove it up his arse. Get yourself a job somewhere you like. Quit asking me you fairy.

Ok, that was not very polite, I apologize. My advice is to talk to your boss reasonably (snore) and explain to him that you (yawn) are not entirely happy with your position in this company (wipe. What? I've been jerking off!). I'm certain you can come to some reasonable agreement. Otherwise, just shoot him.

Thank you for your help all of you. My salary is just so so, 10.000 K but I have high comissions, when I had the interview before start working, my manager promised me 1% of comissions after the traning period but last week told me that the comission will start next year. He told that I am foreigner so when we had the interview I didn,t understand well what he said, that,s not true because i asked many times. In addition I didn,t sign a normal contract, when i i signed my manager just got a contract from internet for foreigners, it seems that foreigners contracts don,t need to pay taxes so i recieve the full salary.

This company as been in the market for 9 years.  About my purpose in China is trying to get a stable job buy at least trying to develop myself

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
