Q: Should I ask for a day off during my probation period??
My boyfriend will travel back to China in a few days to visit me. He has businesses here but he is coming primarily for me. He will bring me products from America that I can't find here or that I can't buy from Amazon because I do not have a Chinese ID. My issue is that I just started a new job and I am on a two month probation period. I do not want to ask the school for personal time because I have already given them a 7 day personal leave request for November. My boyfriend is okay with flying to Shanghai and staying here but the original plan was for me to travel to his location so that I can see his work. I only have two off days and a train ride to him would take 17+ hours and booking a flight for less than two days is ridiculous. I am okay with him coming to Shanghai but I will be at work most of the week and I know that he will want me to call out especially on Saturday because I will be in class from 8am-7:30pm but I can't because the workload would fall onto the Chinese Teacher. I am not sure what to do because I really would like to travel to his location. Help!
I would say no.
Teaching isn't something where you can easily take random days off without it affecting a lot of other people. Maybe if there was someone who can substitute for you but even then...
Depending on your job, you could be messing up the curriculum teaching plan which won't go down well with the school. It might require the students having to do makeup classes or adjust their schedule in some way which is obviously going to be a huge thing and there's a chance parents will say to the school they paid for x hours of foreign teacher time and now the teacher is going on holiday, give us a refund!
But, if your job is basically just to be a token foreigner in the class to amuse the kids and give the school an excuse to charge the parents more as so many teaching jobs are you might be able to swing it.
You don't need a Chinese ID to use Amazon china website.

I don't want to use Amazon China. The products that I need are for melanated women. They will have to come from the USA. He travels back and forth so it is easy for him to bring them to me.

Because that is why he is coming to China: to bring me my stuff. I was also hoping that there may be another solution to the US Amazon shipping to China ID requirement. I do not want to shop on the Chinese Amazon site. Besides, my boyfriend is going to buy everything and bring it all the way over here. This is why a find it very important to spend a lot of time with him. My dark brown, luxury foundation is pricey and not available in China.

they are having your melanated ass put in some Serious hours ! but maybe because it's because you are melanated? and they figure you will take any conditions they put forth in job offer?
anyway, if u r for real you gotta keep trying to get better working conditions!

Actually, I work less hours than most Caucasoid teachers I meet. I had another Caucasoid male approach me the other day but I was not interested. He works 32 hours while I am working less than 20 hours per week for the same salary. His school is less than 200 meters from where I work.

Also, I am not teaching the entire time on Saturdays. I would have to get up at 8am in order to get there at 10am. I teach 5, one hour classes on Saturday but the way the classes are scheduled, I am practically there all day because of the time gaps in the schedule.

I'd say Stiggs too,,, but he has a steady. shining may be married,, but the idea is the same,, guys here need el hottness,, not some douchebag 5000km away.
Instead of taking off, try a plane ticket, sometimes the fares domestically are as cheap as the train, depends on the city your in, I once flew from Beijing to Qingdao for 400 and the first class train ticket was 440, second class 320. Also your products may be easier to get in South Korea where they have an American military base, PX, costco, walmart, etc all with American products and a Bank of America branch.
