On an internet forum (not saying which one), I have had a post deleted, for saying that the original post was boring. Several other posts were also deleted for expressing opinion.
The moderator of the forum explained that such opinions should not be expressed.
Is that taking internet censorship too far?
Hahaha you two hey lol. If this keeps us we will all get banned and only the locals will be left lol then it could be renamed Echinabridges. Hehehe !

Wait, this thread was started because his emoticon only comment was deleted? seriously? I think this whole question should be deleted. Good grief.
Traveler:
WAIT... Xinyuren: WAIT... Who cares what you think, comrade? WAIT... As admin said (and you agreed completely) if you're not interested, WAIT... move onto something you are interested in.
Of course opinion should not be allowed on the internet. Don't be silly.
Sarcasm however must be tolerated.
Opinion is fine if the opinion is the right one. All opinions are equal but some opinions are more equal than others. Right opinion good, wrong opinion bad.
Today is my Orwellian Day.
Orwell is the man!
Admin has taken a very pro Chinese stand this time or has been into Silva's medicine cabinet

I've had similar pressure on my site, but it's outside China, so i didn't care.
Maybe, they don't seem to be harmonizing stupidity. On another forum my typical Chinese reply is being deleted and I posted about something that someone in some country did and I couldn't find the u-tube link. That forum said my comments are critical and racist. When am I ever serious enough to be racist or critical?
It's up to the owner of the site to decide what's acceptable and what's not. They have advertisers (*cough cough Hampson cough cough*) to consider and the ever-present chance of being blocked/shut down if they play too fast-and-loose with the 'rules'.
Added to my answer: Feel free to pay for and open your own forum/website/Blog. I personally know three people who have done so and ALL (although three is not a great number) got blocked and two shut down within the first six months. I certainly wouldn't do it and so kudos to those that are willing to take the risk.
Man I hate it when my hinge-oil massage gets interrupted by a user who twists the truth...but here it goes.
I deleted an "Answer" that merely consisted of a smiley face. This is not an Answer; it does not offer any value to the board or attempts to answer the original question in any way. As I told Traveler in a private message, if he thinks a post is boring he can ignore and focus his time and energy on a more “interesting” thread. I am more lenient towards comments so go ahead and post smiley faces there, I don’t care.
Now, why am I even sacrificing my precious time in responding? Well, because the twisting of a justifiable act of deleting a post that violates the forum guidelines just ticks me off especially when it’s a recurring theme. I’m sure Traveler’s smiley face answer isn’t the only one lingering out there and trust me, I will delete those too when I come across them. I also have my eyes on a very popular trend of answering with a certain two words, which again adds no value whatsoever to the forum. Now I know you all like to have fun and have a go at each other, but think about new users who come to this forum seeking genuine information!
Moreover, I’m sick and tired of users one day saying we’re “Pro-China” and another accusing of us as being “anti-China”. We obviously will never please everyone, especially in a forum whose content is user-generated. Remember: you, the readers and participants, are the Answers board.
Our sole agenda is and has always been to provide an informative platform for people interested in China. Period. There’s no hidden agenda, no hired Wu-maos or secret government monitoring that we are aware of.
We welcome discussion and disagreements but we also weed out the rubbish so that this forum doesn’t deteriote into a pile of [insert word here].
Thank you for your time and understanding.

And I hate it when someone does not tell the full facts. It was a sleeping face, not a smiley face, to signify I was bored with the same old wumao nonsense over and over again, which apparently is not allowed to be harmonised.
A sign or a symbol can communicate an opinion equally as well as words. It was the opinion that was harmonised, not the sleepy face.
Additionally, it is clear that I have been singled out on this for once again daring to put forward my opinion. The magic two words were posted repeatedly by many users, but they were not named and shamed.
Again, I have been singled out as the user that had a post deleted, when it is clear many users are being harmonised for upsetting the wumaos.
I also recall a notice going out saying that users should not repeat the contents of PMs on the notice board, yet admin has done just that in the above post. Time to harmonise yourself?
adminanswer:
Traveler, you are NOT being singled out. Again, please read the above post as to why your emoticon was deleted. Your expression of an emotion DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. It was that simple!!!!!!!!
Traveler:
Only one name there, and you broke your own rule about revealing contents of PMs. The first comment on your answer is a single emoticon, but you have not deleted that. That all seems quite hypocritical, but hey. This is China.
xinyuren:
Thanks for explaining the situation. Good comment and I completely agree.
TedDBayer:
My popular 2 word replies are given as a appropriate answer to some questions that deserve it and as humour, Its subtle humour, but still humour.
Hulk:
I had my posts deleted for going against the community guidelines. I'm not getting butt-hurt over it since I broke the rules and I'm in the wrong.
TedDBayer:
What kind of lube do you like for your hinge? 90W gear oil?
