Q: Smokers: do any of you wear a face mask on bad PM 2.5 days?

Last weekend a friend of mine who recently picked up smoking again said that he'd stopped wearing his facemask when he went outside, because, basically "what's the point? I'm already breathing in carcinogens."

 

I'm curious if other smokers on this board have the same sentiment or if any of you still wear a face mask on bad PM 2.5 days

This depends on what you call a face mask? A surgical mask is useless for smog. A surgical mask is only good to filter out bacteria and particulates. You need a charcoal filter to filter smog. Gas mask, Painters mask etc. Franck3

Now there's an idea! make smokers wear masks over their cigarettes and let us breathe the comparatively safe polluted air in peace!
