Q: Some tips for taking tests?

I have always been very clear headed and focused when taking tests, but would like some extra advice to do better at an important test that I have coming up.

I always try to get some fresh air that morning, and have a good breakfast. When taking the test I always check things over and take my time.

What are some additional tips that may help, or that you use?

If we are talking about taking a test in China here, then I would make sure that you have studied hard, know the answers that they expect of you, know that a little red envelope will help if all goes wrong, etc., etc.

Apart from the obvious, study, know your subject etc.

1. Don't cram the night before - all you'll do is realise what you don't know and that will increase panic / stress.

2. Go to bed early the night before.

3. Eat fish / seafood commonly referred to as 'brain food' the meal before the exam, there is some research that it does actually (temporarily) increase cognitive skills.

4. Don't have a huge meal just before the exam, that will make you sleepy.

5. A good short workout (but don't exhaust yourself) will release endorphins that can help cognitive skills.

6. Get there in plenty of time, allow for unplanned problems on the journey, but don't get there too early 30 - 15mins early is ideal.

7. Have TWO spares of everything you need, pens, electronic submissions, battery chargers etc. (not only will this help practically but it will be one less thing to worry about so reducing stress).

8. Dress comfortably and to hell with fashion or convention, nothing more distracting than being uncomfortable when you're trying to concentrate.

9. Go to the bathroom immediately before the exam starts, whether you need to or not. Again you don't want distractions when you're in the exam.

10. The absolute most important 'tip' KNOW YOUR SUBJECT, the confidence you will get by having mastered the subject is absolutely awesome.

Break a leg.

Hugh, thanks for your good answer but this obviously a troll post with no China reference at all.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
