QQ is a Chinese instant messenger, much like msn.

There isn't a lot to say about it, it's an ok messenger, used pretty much only by Chinese people. You can now find an English version on Google, so you probably won't have trouble using it.

So yeah, she basically asked you to contact her with a Chinese instant messenger.

its much more useful than msn, well if you are chinese since everyone in china uses it, and works really well even with a slow internet connection and good for file sharing

Haha, someone is suffering from the useless losing face syndrome here..... Why did you have to come here to ask about QQ when you should have asked the girl/lady? If this was a conversation I can guess how it went like:

Girl/Lady: Please contact me on QQ.

You: Oh, yeah, sure I will do that.

Here is the reason for my guess: if u had told the girl/lady u don't know what qq is she would have explained to you, even without you  having to ask. Now, because she didn't explain to you, I can safely assume u didn't indicate to her u had no idea what this qq is. You pretended to know. Didn't want to 'lose face'! Haha!!

Next time, try these simple words: I'm sorry, I don't know what that is. If you don't mind, please explain that to me.

You will 'gain', instead of losing, face this way if you are so obsessed with this concept.

Crimo, on second reflection, I am thinking maybe we got this guy's question wrong. Maybe he didn't mean he didn't know what QQ is...It could be that his question is: A  lady asked me to contact her via QQ. What does this asking signify? Does it mean anything e.g. indicating to me that she likes me? etc  The same kind of interpretation ladies sometimes make when a guy takes them out, say, to a movie etc.
