Q: Suggestions with getting a male Chinese name?

My name is quite long in my language and it has 3 words which mean: "The Respected", "Excellemce/Perfection" and

"Wisdom".

And my Chinese surname is Song (宋)...

I asked a Chinese person to help me out and he came up with "my guess is 尊zun (respected) 美mei (as in 美德 meide - moral excellence, 完美 wanmei - perfection & 慧 hui (wisdom). 宋尊美慧 if you are a lady, that is."

BUT I am a guy!!
I need some help to check his suggestion on whether it's a good name and suggest a 'male version' of this

name.

I need help!!!

first thing get an easy name for your self in speaking and writing as well. sometimes chinese guys wants to you prove you can write or not . if you can not they make a fun of it around. so do not embrace yourself with hard stroked names........ get as much easy as you can. like wang wei, wang yi.............. wang means Kings........ do not compare your name in meaning with chinese. chinese have 5000 words with different sounds, stroke and meaning...........

do not go in complication make it as easy as you can ......... best of luck....... my name is wang yi......... means first king....... it has only 5 strokes in total..hahaha

Mr_spoon:

Mine is a bullshit "adaptation" of my french name. It's horrible and I hear my name butchered every day, so I just renamed myself “阿尔萨斯大王”

One of my friends just named himself "Friday", "Zhou Wu".  I think its cool because people think its fun, quirky, and easy to remember.  I say just pick something fun and quirky that has nothing to do with your original name.

I partly agree with Eyn05... but only partly!

If we have some expectation that Chinese people will have an 'English' name, then it would make sense for us to have a Chinese name.

After all, when Chinese people move to US, UK, Aus, Can, NZ, etc, don't they tend to adopt a local name? And, the same if they move to yet other countries - Fra, Spa, NED, etc etc... you adopt a local name to fit into the culture.

The same should be said for here - no???

However, yes, you do have YOUR name - and you should use your name!

I usually tell people I have both (naturally).. they tend to ask for both, and more often than not, will try to remember my real name rather than my Chinese name.

As for getting a name - remember, there's lots of ways to say the same sort of thing.

Song, as for your name - I'd just drop the Mei... Song ZunHui 宋尊慧.. and start practising your writing!

Try anything with 'dragon' as dragons are respected in China.

I want to name myself "The Way Cool Superfly Bad Mother F--ing Superhero From The West, Jr." but I can't find anyone to translate it.
