Q: Talent visa and Renewal Updates

I'm speaking for Shenzhen China with these updates, but I think it will be almost the same nation wide someday:

New Updates:

1. FBI or criminal records will require authentification from the Chinese embassy in our home country for the new A B C talent applicants.

2. Working Permit renewal: The Expat labour office said we can continue to use & renew with our expert books until they run out of stamp slots or told to switch to the ID cards. This is if you stay with the same company. Now, a teacher that wants to stay with the same school or company and wants the new ID permit card would be required to get the degree and a new FBI record authentificated by the Chinese Embassy in their home country. Thus teachers within China within China already working that wish to change jobs would need to do all this new authentificating stuff for their Degree and now FBI checks . (A good selling point to stay put).

3. You will need to get reference letters from previous employers also authenticated by the Chinese Embassy.

FYI, remember from now and till April 1st 2017 they are training and testing the new applicants and current workers that want the card and rank. So lots could change before April next year.

Im just going to keep my marriage visa

ironman510:

And hopefully we married folks here can all use that with the same rights as a Z visa holder to save all of us a TON of work and let us start feeling like we are more secure with our families in China.

We need to put pressure on our employers to clarify this ABC stuff. I asked HR in the company I work for to get more details. I think I need to escalate my enquiry now.

ironman510:

They can only tell you the Expert office workers are being trained as we speak, while new Z visa comers will be the "Test Victims" ( That's why we can keep using our Expert Books next year.)

I'm fortunate that my current work permit is valid until next September. Hopefully by then everything will become very clear (though as it's China I won't hold out too much hope for that!)

ironman510:

Yep, me too, never hold our breath, like we joke about before every meeting at work: What's new this week, because something always gets changed. So I'd expect a few changes before Sept 2017.

Crap!!!

How do I get the FBI to send my no crijminal record to DFAT?

And how do I apply to the FBI? I seriously, I hope they have never even heard of me (the CIA, obviously, has, cos I'm on here...).

Should the authentication be done by the US government, or my home government of Australia?

RE: 'authenciation of reference letters' - should actually not be possible! The term 'authentication' refers to a document being a true and valid document from a government entity, with appropriate stamps and seals being true and correct. A reference letter is just a letter from someone. The letter would require a seal, a stamp or similar, which has been registered with the countries' business registration entity, and connected with the appropriate other government associated entities. Now, China may love its chops and seals, but many other countries around the world do not... I have a number of reference letters - none of them bear any chops or seals, and therefore would not be able to be authenticated!

Of course, they can be translated by a legit translation agency, which could then apply a seal, which could then be authenticated... but that's only for the translation, not for the validity of the letter itself.

@Icnif..I know.

I was giving him a slap in the face for being so 'we are the only country in the world' mentality. He could just have easily (well, ok, extra letters of on the keyboard) typed "relevant authorities in your country - for USA, that would be the FBI". I would have done that....

I'm guessing, but I think there are only about 20% of regular users on this board. who are American.

Have the FBI send the record to your Mom or Dad is best. They will and can call you in China to check, I had to do this two times. If your got REF letters in China than all you need is the company stamp in China, because they can match your old Resident working permits to that old job you did in the past.

So, the FBI will post a criminal check to Australia??

And what would such a check say if I've never been to America? Will that be on the check letter as well? Or only that I haven't been caught for any crimes there?

And, will the FBI ask the Australian Federal Police for information from Australia? Or only do it for a criminal history in America?

And for the sake of the other people on here - will the FBI have the same procedures for all people from all other countries - that you're telling everyone they should be following? Does it mean that we should all ignore our own police and authorities, and only rely on the FBI check, as you are advising???

Oh, do they???

But you wrote - "and a new FBI record authentificated by the Chinese Embassy in their home country." You didn't mention anything about any other country's policing system... And since you're a regular on here, and know that not everyone who posts is American, I figured you had accounted for that... but still we'd need FBI checks...

cos, you know... thinking of ALL your audience is a considerate thing to do..... And I thought that you'd be a considerate person.....

Relax man, Ok, I simply mean a Criminal Record Check or whatever name you call it from where you're from, If FBI is from America and it's required, than obviously you know what it means to you and that it translates into criminal record check. So yes you'll need a Criminal Record Check from your country, state, city or province and get it authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in your country.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
