Q: Temporary Resident's Registration - update

This may not affect many of you, but it probably will if you live in Hangzhou.

I was told by my landlord that I needed to RE-register at the police station (ie, without having a new visa OR a new address.. I've been living here for about 5 years, and last re-entry was May last year).

She also said that SHE had to do some registration in the community before I went down there (police station).

ALSO... while it was nice and easy at the police station, they did say that they would be coming to visit me (and give me the Temp Resident's form itself) within THREE DAYS at my home!

I've had a letter requesting me to go there last August after my renewal, that was within two weeks of the visa renewal. Yeah they really want to inow where we are and how to send us a free China Daily Newspaper. If anything changes in Shenzhen this Year I'll update here, oh I do know I need to register again before the visa renewal IF I left China for any vacation or HK trips.

'some registration in the community' was in Ningbo too, when I had lived there some years back.

I'd say lucky you, that everything was correctly explained to you.

Last year at RP extension in Henan, rep. told me I must announce to the city Police, before I exit China. So, I told rep. a week before HK exit, and we went to the Police. We were sent away in Chinese without copper taking any notes while looking at my RP.

Rep. told me outside, that cop said I can just exit without visiting Police. At my return to Henan, rep. didn't pick-up the phone and I am not sure, if Police was informed about my return.

Now, I just tel rep. before the exit, when I will return and I let them deal with it.

I am not really sure, what I must do with residence claim, because everything goes in Chinese.

Maybe, I'll just dial SAFEA like expat-wife does all the time....
