Q: Is there Chinese medicine to treat arthritis?

I am getting early symptoms of the onset of arthritis (difficulty moving fingers, pain, stiffness) and would like to explore TCM options to slow down the onset. Does anyone have any useful advice on this matter?

a close family member got dietary advice from a GP (not TCM) which included removing 'acid' foods such as tomato and orange from the diet. In addition extra oily fish was recommended. Not the answer you were looking for but these slight changes made some (not total) difference.

TedDBayer:

Fish oil is good for you. but nothing stops arthritis. We should be taught not to stress our bodies so much.

true, but is helped with some of the symptoms. One thing is that everyone's metabolism is different. there is no one cure for all. Each person should be evaluated as an individual, who will react differently to treatments.

@Ted. you're right that once the arthritis has set in, caution as to what you put your body through may be advisable. but if you are young and fit, anything you do, exercise wise, will help postpone the day arthritis sets in.

@scan, I believe that strain and inflammation causes osteoarthritis. Your body attacks itself.

Green Tea grinded with old woman's finger nails. Cut with dried lotus leaf, noodles and a frog.

Snort 3 times per day.

Mr_Sausage:

Yes, actually, without sounding like an ass, actually reduce acidic foods as mentioned before, anything that increases the overall acidity of your blood...

I have arthritis in my knees and hips.  I have tried many things to help me walk again.  If you can, get this book called "Arthritis Interrupted" by Dr. Stephen Sinatra. For me it was a lifesaver.  It is a lifestyle modification program with exercise to help you manage your arthritis. I have tried it, and it works.  You can use some supplements, and good foods that lower inflammation.  You can order the book online. You can also get the supplies overseas or in China fromTao Bao.

I tried Chinese Traditional Medicine and Accupressure and it does not work for me.

To start, stop eating white rice, white flour, sugar, alcohol, night shades (potatoes, tomatoes, egg plant, etc., bad oil, fried foods, and MSG.

Instead start eating more pine apple, drinking green, ginger tea, using Extra Virigin Olive oil to cook, cherries, broccoli, and pomegranates.  Substitute the first list of foods with brown rice, red wine, natural sugar substitute like Stevia, and whole grains.

I wish you luck!  And cook more at home!

Could you elaborate a little on what type excerise worked for you?
