Not as much game rules as advice. Pick beer as drink, usually I would advise against beverages with too low alcohol percentage but in the case go for the weaker brews. Each time you see an Asian looking person on TV, take a huge sip. This way you will spend a significant amount of time going to the bathroom so you want have to ruin your mood.

There is probably special rules if Celine Dion shows up on screen. It allows for a bathroom trip without needing to go. 

I'd start before the "gala" so I'm passed out before it starts.  But, if you must, try this one.  Drink every time someone tells you the girl singing is so-and-so's xiao san or er nai.  You should get a good buzz.

Based on the few glimpse I saw last night. Here are some suggestions for next year. 

1. If there is a dance act have a drink

2. Each time you see a host with a hairdoo like a Playmobil figure, drink

3. Each time you see an act that is highly nationalistic, e.g. a dance act by women in uniform like outfits carrying flags, while you see the Forbidden City in the back ground without being engulfed in smog (rule #1 would also apply)

4. Each time your IPTV provider craps up the image have a drink.
