Another poster asked about ceramic classes in Qingdao. Has anyone come across evening classes - that are more interest based than for a purpose? Certainly across Europe many schools have interest based courses available to the public in the autumn and spring. During my last 2 years in a 3rd category city there weren't any. But in 1st category cities, is there such a thing?

Here in town, as far as I know, the only offering is an old folks university where they have different courses in crafts, cooking, superstitious garbage and so on. You need to be 55 to play. But there are people that go and play the cello at night and such, I just don't think it is large scale organized classed but private sessions.
I have yet to see anything sensible going on during evening time. People go do public dancing, KTV or sit at home watching TV, or go shop.

btw. have seen Chinese classed for working expats offered at night.

I have to teach 3 evenings a week - and the Chinese classes are on at the same time..... :o(
1st and 3rd categories I guess means the same thing as first and third tier cities.....If I'm right then I teach evening classes and yes they do exist...
