Miss A: while I am not a doctor or an expert, I will share with you some of the things I do.

Nothing is good for you if done in excess.  Eating, exercise, drinking, whatever, if done in excess will harm you eventually.  So, I try to eat a balance diet, with moderation, avoid snacks, eat plenty fruits and veggies, and lots of water and fruit juices daily (no sodas).  I am used by now to eat without salt, do limit my sugar intake, and try hard to walk after dinner for at least one hour at a brisk place (not run, but walk).  I live on a fifth floor, so many times I go up the stairway instead of the lift.

I also get from 8 to 10 hours of sleep each day, and when cooking I do wash in water anything I am about to eat.  Here I do avoid any food coming from rivers, lakes and reservoirs of water due to potential pollution and heavy metals contamination.  I do eat fish from the sea, but do not touch fish or shrimp from rivers, lakes, etc.

I also pay attention to my body, and listen when it tells me a warning.  I do get a full physical each year, and keep records of my medical history.

And in general, I keep myself busy, always active doing something.  And should be physical and mentally active too.

go to the gym or do some jogging in the park or neighborhood. Eat healthy try not to binge on fast food if you do keep it to a treat like once a month. By doing this by yourself you need to have enthusiasm to keep it up as many people fail by not committing themselves so get a friend to join you on your journey so they can remind you if you are falling of the tracks of a healthy lifestyle and you do the same which will keep you two motivated.
