Q: Travel visa for relative

Hello good sirs and madams, i am back in China (Guangzhou) and my sister is planning to visit yours truly in January. The last time i had visitors was 2013 and as i recall the tourist visa process back then was fairly simple. This time as with all visas it's more complicated. So i have a few questions for anyone who's had a relative visit them recently in China.

Is it actually totally necessary to put down every hotel you'll stay at and the exact dates of your stay at each one? Could we just say that she'll stay with me all the time, or will the hotels we stay at check our itinerary with police?

Also, does my invitation letter need to be handwrtten and signed before scanning? Or can i just write an email?

Any other advice about this is very welcome.

I’ve sent out a few invite letters to family & friends. I always typed & printed them. Then after signing sent a scanned copy by email.

Laat at one I did was for a friend (2nd one for same person). It just said I’d love you to come & visit me in Guangzhou. First time he got a 6 month multi entry. Stevie time a two year multi entry (reciprocating with what the UK gives Chinese now). I’ve no idea if he listed any hotels though. He never actually stayed with me either time. Though I understand they might be tracking more now where people stay after they’ve visited.

My mother came over from the UK a few weeks ago. We booked her a hotel on ctrip so she could show the visa office she had somewhere to stay on a tourist visa then she just stayed with us for the two weeks. Dead easy. She has a two year multiple entry tourist visa now.
