Q: Urgent help. Where in Shanghai can find good doctor/hospital for allergy check?
For our son, seems he have some allergy, which is going to be bit harder.
I do not want run into "No.1 children hospital" just because it isno.1 for chinese and full of people always.

Did you look at St. Michael web link? It looks dissent, but I don't know which depart. is 'allergies'. They are all listed on the R side.

I'm (lucky) rarely sick, but best wish I could give to somebody is 'stay (far) away from the Hospitals!'

yeah, I know, I mostly refuse go there too, rarely sick, and if got fever or flu, i know it takes few days in bed and some honey and lemon ...
but you know, chinese ... 1 caugh and run to hosspital
I know it's so hard to do but Hong Kong is a better choice.. I find it difficult to solve cases like this in China.. I hope he feels better..

Pollen allergy, 99.9999% chance that you get a prescription for an anti-histaminic, like cetirizine. Fortunately, it's available over the counter and not too expensive. Secondary effect are mild for most people, just dry mouth & throat. However, don't buy this before visiting a doctor, just to be sure it's indeed pollen allergy.
Allergy is accelerated by crap in the air, consider getting a kick ass air purifier for your apartment, that way he will not need any medication when he is home. I agree with Dr. Monkey that anit-histamine drugs are pretty harmless but some cause drowsiness, and you want your boy alert for proper Lego construction when he is at home.

I never actually gotten around to buying one, we suffer from pretty clean air here in Zhuhai. Or at least have for a couple months now (except some extremely bad air during CNY)

No matter what you buy, look into cost of filters and how long they last. I think like ink-jet printers the manufacturer expect to make more money off the supporting products than the device itself.

Yes, anything that could help improve the life quality of the entire family would seem like a waste of money to many Chinese. Better spend the money on a new iPhone instead of helping the kid breathe.
