You must go within 30 days of arrival with work visa to your local Public Security Bureau (PSB) office, there they will process your paperwork.

Make sure you do bring your passport and all related documents from employer, plus some 2 x 2 passport type photos, and your Permit for Temporary Residence issued by local Police with you, they are required.  Also, if you are a college graduate, bring your diploma, will be needed for the Foreign Expert Certificate.  You will be requested to take a health examination at the indicated hospital, I paid 285 Rmb for it.  Then,m they will issue work permit and residence permit for you.
