I hear different things about getting a green card here in China
my friend got a green card a few years ago she had to have 100,000 rmb in a fixed account she had to go back to Australia to get everything ready then she had a limited time to file her application, she said that it wasnt easy.they also hired a lawyer to help. She is married to a Chinese man.
then I have been told that if you are married for 5 years you just apply like you do with the marriage visa you dont have to have money in a fixed account for 6 months.
I was also told if i was a female and married to a Chinese man it would be a lot easier to get a green card.
my question is next year I have been married 5 years, what are the real facts about getting a green card in Shenzhen?
Is there anyone on here that has been through the process of getting a green card what did you do?how easy was it?
Call me a pessimist, but I don't think that you are going to find any male expat green card holders on a site like this.
I could be wrong though.

I was almost afforded the opportunity to apply for mine this year but unfortunately my passport was expiring on the 3rd of January 2018 so I had to fly to Beijing and apply for my new passport which will be arriving in three months time.
As for the money. I was told that it has to be 60 000 Yuan.
A security clearance certificate from my country and one from China.
You need to show that you have been living in China for five years (At least 9 months of each of those years).
You need your marriage certificate obviously.
Your passport needs to be the new passport type that has a chip in it a biometric photograph of you,.
After explaining everything to us they gave us two pages that were written in Chinese. These were the rules for applying for a green card but then they told us that the same rules were about to change.
What I find funny is that if my wife and I had been living in my country then she would have had both a passport and a national ID card from my country. Never the less I shall continue my journey of hunting down and getting my Chinese greed card so I hope that this answer helps.
This is the latest I've read and it's typically vague and one key point is weing (you DON'T need a work permit after you've got a green card - the author admits that in the comments)

i see one problem for you Rob - how do you prove "a stable income" when you're working illegally?
in Shenzhen you need:
1. Five years of marriage and staying in China longer then 9 months.
2. A child.
3. A House
4. 100,000 to 120,000 RMB held in your wifes account for 2 years with no withdraw history.
5. Hometown background check. Like me an FBI check.
6. Health Check.
So the house and Money saved deal is important but it depends on the officer infront of you.
I walked in to get this info last March 2017.
ironman510:
You just have to try it and hope to get lucky. Doesn't hurt to try for 1200 RMB
we dont have a house or a 120,000 and just like what Hot Water said I cant prove anything
ironman510:
But at least try man, people get lucky all the time. Just apply and see.
Englteachted:
Does your wife have a high income? If you can't show how you afford your life style you can possibly end up in big trouble. So don't apply
Can you work on a green card?
Englteachted:
That's why so many eastern europeans are looking for chinese wives
more questions and no answer to this:
a) do you need to have the marriage certificate in China? I for one am married, but no in China as it was too much trouble, I suppose I am out
b) can you live in these 5 years anywhere in china you want or at the same place/city?
If a house is required, well then I am out... while I could afford in a crappier city, WHY would I buy one now
A mate of mine recently looked into doing this in Shenyang and he mentioned having to do items 1,3,5 and 6 on ironman's list. He does have a child but it wasn't mentioned as being a factor. There was also a cash figure involved but it was a five-figure number (50k I think) and it didn't matter in whose account it was. In addition to that, they wanted to investigate his own bank account for the last two years to make sure that 1) he was paying tax and 2) there were no unexplained amounts being paid in ie. side gigs.
ironman510:
Yeah I was told to bring Chinese tax records if I had them which I do, the child part proves you have strong ties to China and they know your kid needs you if they have a Chinese hukou. It's a sneaky requirement but it's there
dom87:
probably also important:
I guess you kid needs to be "officially chinese", meaning, no other nationality passport
I have seen and met a guy who has a Green card based on Marriage, but his job was nuclear engineering, that could have had a lot to do with it he's A class talent. At least I saw it, it brings hope haha
