I am wondering what are some good things to buy on taobao that is cheaper than buying in the stores. What are your list of things that you recommend buying on Taobao? I have only bought a few things on Taobao/ Tmall and want to know what are some good things to buy.
I buy electronics (if you're not in a major city with a good electronics market, you'll pay through the nose), printer toner, paper, MSDs, flash drives, and computer components.
Food, LOTS of imported food and booze (no fake stuff thus far).
Kids' clothes - I can get the 'for export' kids' clothes at a Chinese price.
Stationery - I buy Uniball pens (made in Japan!) for 7 RMB/unit rather than 11 at the local stores.
Fighter aircraft - managed to buy a MiG 32 for at least 600,000 less than on 'other' markets. The rockets were tricky to order but close to Spring Festival, no one questions anything.
I was just kidding about the stationery!
BHGAL:
I don't want to knock this too much.... but I prefer not to buy electronics or ink!!! on taobao... I been burned!
kids clothes and food have been OK.
some stuff you just want to go confront the guy that sold it to you, in person!!!
Sinobear:
I've bought tens of thousands of RMB worth of stuff...only a couple of problems, but never with electronics or computer equipment.
You've got to pay attention to the price (too low compared to others = stolen, used or fake) and the comments (all positive = all paid commentators).
The toner I buy actually is higher quality and outlasts the "original" HP toner that came with my printer.

I suggest that they have some pretty decent and cheap wooden flower planters on taobao
Price checking is a good use fro taobao and Tmall or JD...Christmas gifts should be the best thing for Taobao use, I buy these great fake LEGO brands that are 95% like the real LEGO.. Halloween costumes & cosplay even the original Batman from the Dark Knight for Y13,000. books and PDF downloadable books.. The list goes on.
Nessquick:
for the fake lego, i find out brand "diamonds" or something like this is the most similar to original, and they have good things :-)
I also recommend downloading the Taobao app so you can compare prices at any moment that would be required. I love showing them that their prices in way overpriced than walking away feels great.
I bought furniture, even though like most apartments in China mine came with the basic stuff I like to give it a personal touch.
Clothes when they are cheaper, I first go at the mall to try it, to see how it fits me, and note the reference number (makes it easy to find the product online), then I buy it online if it's cheaper, not too cheap tough since there are many fakes out here, as the saying goes "if it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't".
I used to buy videogames for Steam since UnionPay debit cards are not supported (debit cards won't work on Paypal as well) but not anymore since I got a Mastercard credit card from a Chinese bank, it's easy when you have shares in a company, they are not so afraid that you run away with debts anymore.
I used to buy imported food when I lived in smaller cities with no import supermarkets and only very small "import" sections in local supermarkets. I have never had any problem, fake stuff or food poisoning from any of it, but some stuff are really overpriced when you include the delivery fees.
My wife bought me a genuine Armani suit from Taobao for 640RMB. It has survived two weddings so far.
I like to buy imported foods since I am in a smaller city with few western food options. I like to cook. I also find it hard to buy some simple things like index cards and books in stores here. Although, I usually use the Book Depository out of the UK. They have free shipping on books. And, with my big feet, I have to buy shoes online.
Books, downloadable PDFs. They have medical books that are hundreds of US dollars for 10 RMB
I am not Chinese and do not understand Chinese language . So how to buy ?
BHGAL:
For a small commission, I can get you anything you desire.
joking
use google chrome is what I do... it translates

i bought from a Engish taobao agent, their site www.allyao.com. Hope their might help you. I have tried their service, it is ok. And support Paypal, credit card.
I buy leftover or second quality clothing and accessories labeled WEIHUO or for export. I have found that buying kids brands has been super cheap and also Japanese brands are really good quality (though more pricey).
Using the same same keywords, I'm also able to find real import cosmetics, household supplies (Finnish brand towels, Japanese seat covers, wooden Toilet seat cover), and anything heavy that I don't feel like lugging home from the super market (think 10lba rice and dog food).
Clothes and electronics mainly! I bought a bike of taobao, fake... fake... fake!
