10 years 27 weeks ago in Transport & Travel - China
Don't have an answer but... Don't buy anything you cannot see beforehand. I would be very careful as the view on maintenance and the amount of small fender benders means a second hand car can be in terrible shape.
Also, second hand cars are strangely expensive. The only second hand dealers I've seen mainly have Lexus/Infinity/BMW/Mercedes and the car of corruption, Audi. Something reasonable new, that looks OK is also far too expensive.
As a curiosity. BMW's that are imported are much more second hand than BMW's that are built in China. Go figure.

Scando, I wondered about the BMW thing as well. I found out that it is the dismal build quality of the China made ones that makes them cheaper.

BMW in China is built by Brilliance Auto. If you see their cars you will soon notice they suck just as bad as the rest of the lot. And I think they've also been inspired by BMW for the front grille on their cars
Can believe BMW does that to their brand. I am sure VW Group cars have similar issues, and I've also seen you can buy VW models both as domestically built and as imports (same cars/model)
We have been looking at second hand cars. There is not much difference in price between a second hand car and a new one.
One dealer wanted 80'000 for a 12 year old passat. Insane pricing.
The best deal we could see was a '07 Peugeot 206 for 43'000.
That was going to a specific second hand dealer area.
The cars online look even worse price wise and if you do not know what you are looking for (hidden damage, replaced panels, oil leaks, screwed engines etc) it is best not to bother.
