Q: What brand of laundry detergent do you use?

In the past I've tried using both OMO and Tide, but I'm convinced neither one works very well. Any recommendations? Is the powder or the liquid better in your opinion?

I buy OMO for no specific reason. I use liquid for hand washing and powder in the washing machine. I think OMO works at least as well as water because I see the dirt in the water when I hand wash clothes.

I recall using a detergent with a lavender fragrance but I forgot the name.

Interesting question... I use Tide powder because (1) my mother used it so many years ago when I was a kid growing up so it's a nostalgia thing with me, and (2) powder - it has been proved - washes more efficiently/effectively than liquid, perhaps due to its more abrasive nature.  Just gotta be careful how you use the powder.  I tend to start filling the machine with water and then add the powder bit by bit so it fully dissolves before I add the clothes.  Liquid, of course, you can add any time.  But I like powder...

I tried OMO when I lived in Spain, and I don't reckon there's much difference between Tide and OMO, powder or liquid.

As far as hand-washing, I've always used Woolite.  Can you get that here?  Dunno...

If you know of a better, cheaper, cleaner, and safer brand than either of the aforementioned, can you post the name?  Thanks and have fun watching the clothes go round! (An old Pretenders song...)

I use Fire. No telling what that stain was. Incineration is the only way to get your clothes really clean in China.

Dunno.  I'd have to ask my Ayi.  But the way my "clean" clothes come back smelling, I'm convinced she's just using water out of the company's fish pond.

Back home, I use Gain liquid detergent.  Never seen it here though.

zosiasamosia:

Check BHG - maybe you will be able to find Gain over there. Might be more expensive.

OMO! ROFLMAO!

Many years ago towards the start of my previous career, that was a code for the wives to tell their boyfriends that they were available. They would put a box of OMO in the window. The initials stood for Old Mans Out, or the more polite version was On My Own.

I use Ariel, liquid as it gives to my clothes the sort of fragrance that to me it means they are clean and of course because it really cleans everything. Tide would be an option too but it's not my favorite. I've never tried Omo and I don't think I will either.

OMO smells good to me. I did not know that the powder is better than the liquid.

White Cat (白猫) and OMO. However, I think the wife likes OMO the best. We use the powder version.
