Not my tradition but we're having a Polish-Brazilian Christmas because of my various roommates, so we're having rice and beans with our dinner on Christmas Eve and we have to leave a place for baby Jesus at the dinner table...
Gifts exchange ! My parent send gifts, we are preparing something for them. It's not big fancy gifts : we made them a picture album, decorated by ourselves. My wife really enjoy doing this.
She seems to like the idea of the Christmas tree, next year, we will give it a go. Hand-made decoration (paper made) are more fun than ready-made one, it keeps the kids busy and it's probably better for the environment. It can be a nice way to spend the cold evenings.
Drinking alcohol and kissing under the mistletoe (with or without the mistletoe).
I haven't done a lot for Christmas since I was a little kid but I look forward to getting together with some friends and enjoying some good times in China. It will be nice to be with people when seeing family isn't an option.
the act of leaving China to celebrate xmas for realsies rather than fake plastic saxy santa xmas shopping hellish xmas under the palm trees.
There is a small group of foreigners here . And a group of very good cooks (my wife being one of them). She ordered in a ton of stuff for them...
So there is going to be a mixture of Western, Polish and Chinese food. I am expecting some amazing eggnog, perogies, beijing duck, potatoe salad, turkey and other various stuff.
We will watch Christmas movies on a projector and do the secret Santa bit. Will be pretty decent this year.
