Q: what cities in China are warm in the winter ?

I froze in Guilin last winter, so if I'm here next winter I want to be someplace warmer or go maybe to Thailand. What are Qinzhou, Beihai, Sanya and Zhanjiang like to live in and how warm are they in the winter. I'm also thinking of Florida or Dominican as I can take my dog.

Like in the US, the further south you go, the warmer it gets. So find the equivalent of Florida, and set up there.

I though I was in the Florida of China, same latitude as Miami, yes crimo, I found  Guilin Guangxi freezing, not like -20C, but when its 4* inside and out, it felt much colder. At home in that temperature I can still wear a lighter coat. My floors were freezing, I was even sorry I had a western toilet.

Ted, each person's resistance to cold weather is different.  And in China, because of no heating system in most homes or business, humidity and wind factor, somehow it does feel a lot colder than back home.

But the warmest you will feel in China will be at the southern tip of Hainan Island.  Or do as I did, install insulated drapes on every window, check and repair all windows for air leaks, and do buy some heaters.  My winters, at least inside my home, are comfortable for me now.  Oh, I forgot, do buy an electric blanket too.

TedDBayer:

I have never had a bead of sweat roll down my face no matter how hot it is or how hard I work. At home I am able to withstand more cold than most, I'll wear a T shirt and my leather jacket unless its really freezing, then I'll wear a winter coat, even so I probably won't zip it up. The problem living in Guilin was being cold 24/7 and it felt much colder. Every where I went it was cold. I have a small apartment, floors were like ice, even if I had a blast furnace with the GF insisting windows be open, I'd still freeze. I haven't had a cold or been sick in years, yet I was here 6 days and I got really really sick with one. I want warmer outside also. around 20*

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
