Thread about what you had and or cooked for dinner tonight.
List ingredients and tips if you cooked!
I did;
Potato, onion, garlic topped with sliced chicken breast, capsicum and tomato.
Some 'laoganma' spice, salt, oil, lots of black pepper and some dark soy for marinating the chicken.
one third can of beer, all in one tray in oven for about 45 mins at 200 Celsius
good taste and healthy!

Fry up. Sausage, bacon and eggs. Side of beans.
Washed down with a bottle of Crawfords blended Scotch, vintage 2012.
As I gloomily ate my stodge, I gazed at photos on the ipad of what a real fry up looks like. I was tempted to harvest the mushrooms from the damp corner in the apartment, but my wife said no, because the wall paint contains lead.
I bought a couple of US Military MREs last week. Saving them for a special occasion
tonite was hotpot. perfct fr the cold spell we're havin' now.
daxigua:
Indeed, spice things up to get the blood running in your toes!
leftover slop from around the corner. but seemed to have caught Ms. Child's eye,,,, so, I reckon I'll be gettin' a bit of the ol' Rumpy-Bumpy fer a proper dessert ~ haha, she's a right devil that one!
I didn't eat anything ...., because nobody supplied the right recipe for ...:
http://answers.echinacities.com/question/anybody-has-receipe-maggot-stew...
'I WANT ... stomp!'
daxigua:
I have eaten those, quite delicious in fact.
They are moth pupa, not 'maggots' !!!
Also eat roast cicada, haochi!
re-heated those above from lunch and made mashed spuds, carrot and put the peas in after.
some milk and fresh ground pepper.
Who is in the mood for a Krusty Krab?

Pizza without cheese is like a Pizza without Cheese! Hey dax, remember, It's god's birthday,,, I would be careful before I started Offending the Heavens ~
daxigua:
I know, but Cheese is expensive saturated fat.
Using egg might be 'unconventional' but it works for me...
I dont think Jesus would know much about pizza anyway!
Ok, in honor of the thread I thought I would post a few pics of the worst 'food' around ~ if u got some worse pics,,,,, #share
*I took all except the second one...
daxigua:
glad I didnt have meat on my pizza today.
A bunny stew would be good when the real cold sets in
diverdude1:
yeah,,,,, China has gone a long way to turning me into a vegetarian... how in the world they can eat that rotted meat is beyond me...
daxigua:
indeed, and that kind of explains my 'no meat, no cheese' pizza creation.
however, nothing like a bunny stew in the depths of winter to war up them cold toes!
careful of vitamin B12 deficiencies if/when going non-meat.
daxigua:
oh, and thanks for honoring the thread I created.
Food is always good to talk about, so I hope this thread exists for quite some time!
diverdude1:
thx for the B12 reminder. I haven't gone full Tree-hugger yet, I'm just saying cattle can sleep a bit easier tonight...
Food is a good topic and as anyone who has spent some time here knows it is required by Statute B16a02-pbj to post a photo of your meal on wechat at any given time. Failure to do so can result in a complete stranger yelling 'Hello' at you on the street and then dissolving into a giggle-fit.
daxigua:
haha, it kinda hard to 'go tree hugger' mode when in China.
I do not know how a tree hugger vege could cope in a Chinese restaurant!
Yeah, take heed about the vegetarians B12 !!!
going against tradition here for the meal.
have got in a large leg of lamb for this evenings meal - a slow roast so it is already cooking for later this evening.
most of the family is getting together, including the in-laws (great folks).
Fresh steamed vegetables and home-made ice-cream.
sister-in-law, who is a great cook, is bringing her mince-pies
MMMMMM
daxigua:
oh, just oh, you are in foodie heaven today!
leg of lamb will be puuuurfect!
AND ice cream, AND mince pies!
Just wow, you might get a stomach ache from eating too much!
daxigua:
I did 2 [smaller] legs of lamb a few years back for Christmas lunch and it was very well received
Blondie_:
people often mistake meals that requite a lot of preparation (and a lot of what i consider to be 'food groping') for 'better'.
more often than not, the best meals are those that are the easiest to prepare.
daxigua:
haha, 'food groping' yeah, in fact despite what people may think, I DO NOT like cooking, just the eating part!!!
Had a big bowl of pig foot soup
1 pig foot
oyster mushrooms
button mushrooms
seaweed
5 bulbs (do not know what these are called, English or Chinese!)
Chinese yam
ginger
salt
boil pig foot for about 5 mins, then chuck away that water, clean the meat and bones and boil again with ginger and salt.
boil about 1-2 hours then add all other ingredients, 20 mins should be enough
great cool weather eating
diverdude1:
sounds pretty yummy,,, but you can keep the yams. Never had a taste for them, no matter US or China...
bulbs,,, hmmm? just onion bulbs? garlic bulbs?
daxigua:
Chinese yam is not the same as the US. I would be surprised that you had not eaten it here as it is very common.
White and slightly crunchy.
Yes a bulb, about the size of a daffodil bulb, not onion. as i said, I do not know what they are!
Ok, I posted pics of the worst 'food' out there,,,, now I will post pics of some of the best food out there! I think all of these pics are off the 'net. But still, they represent where I'm from and what I like. How about you?
*ok, I took pics 5, 6, 7.
daxigua:
ah, makes me hungry for some pork crackling.
hamburger looks nice too, got to buy me some beef and mince it up
Viki87:
It looks horrifying to cook the whole pig. I gave up on that.
daxigua:
it may look horrifying viki, but the taste of 'pork crackling; just makes it all OK!
Super juicy chicken legs;
8 medium size chicken legs
2 capsicum (AKA bell or green pepper)
1 Garlic, half fine cut the other into tray
1/2 onion, fine cut
1 Tomato, peeled and sliced
2 potato, sliced
2 teaspoons of Laoganma spicy sauce
2-3 teaspoons dark soy
1/2 a can of beer
50 mls cooking oil
cut capsicum lengthways into 4
place into oven tray inside facing up on top of the sliced potato
place a chicken leg into each
fine cut the onion and half of the garlic and mix in a bowl the other ingredients, place over the chicken legs
no need to add salt, there is enough in the soy and laoganma
put the other half of garlic into the tray to roast em up!
190 Celsius for about 50 minutes
Super juicy
daxigua:
haha, right now, snacking on a reheat of that and those chicken legs are just a juicy as the first cooking.
unsure what it is that made the juiciness, but strongly suggest you try it out asap!
haochi!
Ok,,, a little guessing game... two of the photos are tonight's reality,,, and the other two photos is where I go sometimes when I'm in the city! I'll let you guess which is which.
*yeah Viki,,, the pig (Lechon) looks pretty horrendous,,,but tastes pretty darn good! I think you have to be Philippine to pull that particular culinary trick off ~
I can't post a comment. Don't know if it's my 'net, browser, or this site. Anyway, yeah,,,, I really do want to start eating more healthy style..... but, good luck with that. That would take a minimum of four big efforts -
1. find out what is healthy food
2. find where to buy said healthy food
3. find $ to buy expensive healthy food
4. learn how to prepare said healthy food for consumption
daxigua:
1. Spinach
2. Local market or supermarket
3. It is not expensive
4. Buy a cookbook or ask a neigbour
