So I get that blowing one's nose openly in China without using a tissue or hankerchief is acceptable practice. whether because it is far too expensive a hobby or because that's just what you do, just like the custom of shaking hands.
So what happens to all the facial tissue Chinese don't use? Even you eschew the gratuitous action of consuming a product that is useful for only one second, Chinese will receive these little packets of tissue paper as gifts and subtle hints.
What happens to them? And they bequeathed to the next generation? A hope chest, as it were?

It's used for toilets (mostly women) or to clean something (ie. wiping dust or water from the surface of something).
