Q: What do I do with my 8 year old son if I am at work?

I would love to come to China to work, but I would love to bring my 8 year old son for the experience and exposure. Where do parents who work , leave their children?  What other options are there?

I just had to post this somewhere    .. wonder why you teachers come to China, they just spent 5 years here.

I'm continually in Awe of the blessings our Heavenly Father has for us... we will continue our adventures in beautiful Koh Samui island Thailand. I will be a primary ESL teacher & hubby will be a middle school math teacher. We've both been hired at a British international school. It's a 12 month contract with 13 weeks paid holidays! We are on a similar schedule as the west! We are beyond excited & feeling incredibly blessed!

Most people with an 8 year old child send him /her to school during the day.

I have to ask because of your question. Do you plan to take your son out of school for however long you stay in China?

Don't tell me you believe in that BS schooling that the liberals have been shoving down our throats for the past 200 years?

The boy will learn more on the street right here in China than he ever would at some conformity factory school.

What sort of job did you have in mind? You don't see many three month contracts advertised online.

Not legal, either! 3 months is 'screw-you-often' job.

Legal Contract can't be shorter than 10-months and it is usually 12-months in length.

Summer camp is possibility as short gig, but they always ask if I have valid Residence permit.

Just set him loose during the day to have his own fun. He'll learn much more about what the REAL world is like out there than sitting in front of some lame teacher all day. That's what most parents here do.

Get job in Kindies and make your kid little-TA  .

Your kiddie will teach other kids better than you .

He'll be considered 'experienced', you aren't!

Are you a qualified/certified teacher?

if yes then find a job in an international school. They'll give your son a place.

If if not then you're going to struggle! A Chinese school job means you need to find a school that will take your son.

A training centre job means you'll be working evenings and weekends.

you could hire a nanny obviously.

Where do you leave you boy if you are not in china and are working?

China is not different from that. you hire someone who take care for him if he has school holidays

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
