Q: What to do when my school has not paid my salary

Here is my situation I work in an Training Centre in Henan.I signed a 12 month contract with them with a one month probation period which they will pay me 5000 RMB they paid me that on the first month I arrived.

As stated In my Contract after the probation period at the second month they should pay me 7000 RMB but they only paid me

5000 RMB.

I have kept on calling and messaging my Centre Manager but he doesnt reply to any my messages and i think he seems to ignore what i have been telling them.

My next payday for the third month is 9 days later and they never pay on time always 5-7 days late and if he doesnt pay he owes me 2000 rmb from previous month and 7000 rmb for this months upcoming pay.

What are my options if he tries to shortchange me by giving 5000 rmb instead of 7000 rmb or not pay my salary.

The other thing if i resign or shit hits the fan can i go back to Canada and return then transfer my visa or do i have to get a new visa.

As my mother is in a very critical condition now she has some serious illnesses that have been recurring recently

but i would like to be back 1-2 months later if i could.

icnif52, are you a native speaker? Just asking based on some typing mistakes I see. To be honest there isn't anything you can do in China. You got to suck it up and move on.

what's the difference between icnif52 and icnif77?

I know Icnif77 has been around a long time...but it's a little suspicious them posting in the same thread; like me getting into a discussion with Expatlife28!

Unless there is something really obvious i'm missing, in that case the joke is on me.

I think icnif52 is a new user who just copied icnif77's name. Bit dodgy if you ask me, I'm sure they are not the same person but I'm skeptical of the new one.. We know the old one, no problems there, I don't always get his jokes but he's cool wink

I notice that it uses that same format that the CFTU trolls used to often use,

"Provocative negative question about English teaching?

Paragraph..blah blah blah blah

Important Parts in Bold!

Paragraph..blah blah blah blah"

expatlife26:

Again, if Expatlife28 posts a blog about how much they love working in an office with every other word in italics. I would expect a little scrutiny.

They also use 'phrases' that are meant to be popular in english. Like using 'mate' a lot. Noticed in this one he used 'but straight up'. Like he heard it in a movie and thought English speakers speak like that.

Haha, I know exactly what you mean, brother. Like just trying a little too hard to sound 'natural' like a dorky gym teacher trying to connect with the kids.

"I was busy doing The Harlem Shake when I realized that a relative was gravely ill. Oh my Lady Gaga, I stated aloud in an energetic voice. I checked with my school regarding the consequences and I realized which my salary had been in arrears for 26 and one days!"

Reminds me of two different things i've read...one is about scammers using dating sites and how good way to tell is if they use the wrong slang for where they're supposed to be from. Like a guy from the US saying "take the tube" or "bloke" or spelling color with a 'u'

The other was this software that would monitor social networks aimed at underage teens and kids...I remember it had something like a 90% success rate at telling a real 14 year old from an adult pretending to be one.

And  their "i'''s are uncapitalized  and Chinese don't capitalize their 'i' in the middle of a sentence, the phone does it automatically when starting a new sentence. I'm 90% sure this has been typed by cell phone..

Call the CFTU, they will swoop in, force the school to issue you a check, then the CFTU will fly you to Canada on a private jet (G7 baby). Then they will move you ailing Mother to China to get the best TCM in the world!

I just came back from ICBC.

School posted your salary to my account. I'm not sure why, but I'll open 'pawn shop' similar to L. Vegas stores.

We might look a like too. Similar like two 'Up-yours' few days ago on CCTV: 'Ukrainian Russian' looked like 'Up-yours' twin bro., without 'sight impairment'Use GOOG for the last two words. I do that all the time.

P.S. (lat. Post Scriptum)

Welcome 'abroad'! So, how come you don't have Internet in your apartment. You must stay at the School (with puter and Internet) for 'office hours', do you?

BTW the Wumaos have officially won having created an atmosphere of cynical distrust!

Somebody posts about a salary dispute now the knee-jerk reaction is to mock them...i mean this one is pretty suspect cause the name, but what if somebody really did have a relative that's gravely ill and everybody just started mocking them?!

JacobJohn:

I totally agree with you. I was about to post about this serial mocking on any suspicious poster,  whatever the reason is. But this is a very likely case scenario and I wish I could have heard a reasonable answer and help to anyone who may end up in this situation.

Scrutinizing the op, proceeding to a check-up then decide whether he is entitled to a right answer or to being mocked, it makes obsolete the main reason of asking for help on this expat website. Not to mention that the op also may end up being pushed against the strings this much that it  discourages anyone to asking any further questions on such sensitive issues.

Right I mean all joking aside, it sucks that it's come to this.

In general it does a lot less harm to take a troll seriously than to ignore the pleas of someone genuinely asking for help. Like with that question before about someone wanting to report a colleague for sexual harassment.

Now any post that pushes the viewpoint of "Teaching/Teachers/Expats are bad" is immediately assumed to be some greasy lil' dipshit pushing the party line for a dozen dollars per week.

I mean hell, I wrote a 20,000 word blog on exactly why I think being in China can be bad for your career/life and I'm as American as apple cake. There are tons of problems with that industry and now we're acting like anybody asking for help is a troll. Myself included.

Few days ago, I was 'vouching'for a guy, who get embalmed later.

My Q was: 'what does that (mocking) have to do with OP's Q?'

Replies were guessing OP's 'nativity' or something similar. In the end, they all convinced me, that (where are you from=(me) from my ma) is important.angel@expat: 'Apple pie is Austrian', and get adopted by US by immigrants in the beginning of 20th century. 'Rezepte fur apfelstrudel':

http://www.gutekueche.at/rezepte/852/wiener-apfelstrudel.html

Wikipee: Apple strudel (German: Apfelstrudel) is a traditional Viennese strudel, a popular pastry in Austria and in many countries in Europe that once belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire (1867–1918).

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
