Kindergarten I am working full-time, set my working schedule from 8:30 am - 10:00 am, and 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm, Mon - Fri.
I have 6 teaching periods, 20' each, every day .
They refuse to move all working hours in the morning or in the afternoon. Can I do anything else, but resign?

Sounds a lot better than my schedule: 8am-5pm, Mon-Sat....
maggiegirly:
wow,you work 6 days a week,Shouldn't be so easy for you?
I am tired of working 6 days per week even I am a Chinese LOL

Small town China: 6 day work weeks and abbreviated public holidays...
That is a VERY nice teaching schedule.
I teach 09:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 five days a week, (they pick the days, although in reality that's open to negotiation) with the occasional 18:30 - 21:00 thrown in.
Time off in lieu when I go over my maximum hours of 100 per month.
But then I teach young adults not kindergarten.
Not a bad schedule!
Some days I teach all morning, some I teach all afternoon, but my most hated schedule is 8:00-9:30 am, and then 4:00-5:30 Pm. Fortunately, we have a computer room in the university for teachers which we can use when free. We also have a teachers lounge which has a few comfy chairs and even a couple of sofas.
I many times use this period to chat, or to surf the net, or to plan and/or modify lessons.

The 8:00-9:30 am, and then 4:00-5:30 Pm schedule is on the same day...
exactly why are you complaining? if you sign a contract adhere to it.
crimochina:
here is what you have to understand. when you want to change your schedule just to suit you, you are putting extra work on the schedule maker (who makes a a whole lot less money than you), other teachers (who makes much less money than you). simply because .. what? if you don't want to work certain hours put it in your contract.

I want schedule, which will let me work more. Small city, with several Kindergartens and two or three Middle/Primary Schools.
Last year, Middle School I was working full-time, got me more teaching work around the city. 16 hours at Middle School, set in 4 weekdays.
I have never seen Contract with working schedule in it! Schedule is always set by Teachers at individual School. Last year, they were flexible, and accommodate my requests, because they knew I am doing additional teaching at different Schools or Tourist Agencies.
Kindergarten where I am now, behave like they are NASA affiliate.
If you are in a larger city, find something to occupy your time for those 4 hours -- join a gym, if there is one close; go for a bike ride; go sit in a coffee shop; go home and surf the 'Net. Your schedule is relatively stress-free, that is for sure -- just a find a creative, happy and productive way to occupy your free time. Six periods of 20 minutes each, even with little children, is only three working hours per day.
Aww, poor you. My heart bleeds.
icnif77:
hihihihihih, somebody 'down loaded' you! hehehehehe
twice!
It wasn't me! YET! What do you think, what is the real reason for such working time?
Parents bring their kids at 7:30am, and come to pick them up at 4pm.
They think (and pay), I am with the kids whole day! My class is called 'International Class'

Not sure why people would put me thumbs down. Ah well. Anyway, it could be a number of things. In my experience it is usually to do with you being fitted in around other peoples schedules or, in the case of kindergartens most of the time, things like feeding and nap times. Either that or it's just the management messing with you for the hell of it.
icnif77:
I don't see that as 'messing with me'. They lie and make extra money, as I am with kids 7 hours a day. Like English speaking nanny.
I am teaching 2-3 years olds. When I asked for 3 hours in the morning or in the afternoon, they replied 'kids learn in the morning more difficult subjects beside English'.
I am only English teacher in the city. Don't they think, it would be useful if they would let me work at another School too?
mike168229:
Unfortunately that is just what happens out here. I was really lucky the first time I came here that the place I worked for did not screw me over too much. This time I am a freelancer which is much better. It's bad but a lot of guys on here will tell you the same; they don't actually give a shit about you, they care about the money.
