There are several ways of practising Zen, notably meditation in room blessed by a Zen master (my teacher was one and would give us a cheap price for rent) or by listening to the music to get a passive gain to Zen. And I like the music because it really helps. I bought some CDs from him, but i secretly thought it was a bit too... rushy. So I went to go look for moar traditional Chinese Zen music, and thanks to answers.echinacities.com, i found it!
Zen is a Japanese word and is similar to the practice of Taoism
Zen is a translation into Japanese of the Chinese ch'an, which itself is a translation from the Sanskrit dhyana (Pali: jhana), and is normally translated into English as 'meditation'. Although, this is a little incorrect as the pali for meditation is actually bhavana, literally meaning 'to become familiar'. The practice of seated meditation in Japanese Zen Buddhism is called zazen. As such, Zen is a tradition within Buddhism that names itself after its own fundamental practice.
