I will be visiting China in June of 2012 and I have some friends their and I would like to bring some popular USA items , I know almost everything can be bought in China yet , some items from the USA are very popular or in demand. Please tell me what the Adults and Children would love to have( hard to get )
Well, if you are rich, of course Apple iPhones and / or iPads. But since in China you just do not give a person odd number of presents, you will need at least two for each person.
Maybe should start by saying what not to bring, like watches, umbrellas, perfum, nothing of white color (white here is the mourning color),
For adult males I would suggest cartoons of cigarretes, or some good liquor, those are always appreciated. For male children maybe some candies, or chocolates, or maybe a nice computer game.
For adult females, facial creams, good suntan lotion, hand creams, humidifier creams, and things like that. A good hair shampoo and conditioner is also good.
And for female children, Barbie dolls and accessories for Barbie were a hit for me last year.
Remeber, here is not the value of the present, but the fact that you remember the person enough to buy something for him or her.
And to close, remember to hand the present over by holding it with both hands, do not be surprised if it is refused at first, insist and it will be eventually accepted. And it is also customary here not to open the present until the guest departs, no do not be surprised if that happens.

I actually like that custom, of not opening your gift in front of the giver...
kool-aid....KFC fried Chicken,Magnum Condoms, and wallet size picture of obama..
Oo wait you asked what you should bring for supplies or what you should give a chinese guy>?
Depends where you're from. I am from the West Coast of Canada, so I bring smoked salmon. Chinese love seafood, so that's always a good bet. If you're from Washington or Mass or something bring something like that.
I'm not sure what part your from but where I'm from I can get items at least 70 to 80% cheaper where I'm from. I'm talking about clothing. Yes Chinese love clothing and shopping is very popular here. The only thing is you can get the name but not that real brand here and the only place to get that is at those silk markets. I can get paul frank items and CK shirts for 5 bucks but over here it would cost around 50 to 100 bucks. I saw a Paul Frank bag here they were trying to sell it for 100 dollars I could have gotten that same one for 5 dollars at T.J. Maxx back home!
For adult men, cigarettes and booze. For adult women, cosmetics and perfume. For children, lead-free toys. Obviously don't bring them something with a "Made in China" label....
I brought chocolate and perfume etc. i brought flags as souvenirs, probably easier to get in USA,, Canada get for Canada Day or forget it, they were liked, pins and stickers weren't. Hard to find souvenirs not made in China, i cut or took the labels off. That killed me buying Canadian souvenirs made in China.
