Q: What happened to CCTV9? Can you believe I miss it?

I woke up a few weeks ago and noticed CCTV9 was missing form my TV.  Video noise now takes it place. I figured they moved it to another channel so I let my TV do an auto search and cannot find it. What happened?  Where did it go and why? I can get by without it but I miss my daily dose of propaganda to balance out my daily dose of CNN BS that is trying to program people to judge economies by stock market performance.

Still get it on the Satellite

I am led to believe that  TV in China is pay TV

maybe somebody took it off because they didn't want to pay for it?

that is how it is in Mudanjiang anyway

If you are referring to the English language channel of CCTV, it is now called CCTVNews.

It was still working for me as of yesterday.  Got to indulge in a nice propaganda piece about how the US has the highest per capita prison population in the world, and how China has fewer.  Wonder why....*facepalm*.

Hulk:

Because China doesn't waste taxpayer money on for-profit prisons. Instead, they just execute violent criminals.

I dunno. Yes the media promotes a baseless emphasis on stock market performance.

I only answer this because it was hanging out on the right hand side of my screen.

CCTV News is now on channel 16.

I love it a lot.

How bout that chick Jenny Lei....now she's named Cheng Lei.  Same for Phillip Yin. Now he's Yin ....

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

But the person I really miss is not Wang Meng Meng, as she's always on my mind... but that good 'ol boy James Chao.  I mean, where is he now??

yongge:

Wang Meng Meng, now there's a good looker

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
