Q: What has been some of the crazy demands/things parents of your students have done/had?

I'm not a teacher anymore, though one thing that peeved me most about the job was unreasonable parents with crazy demands; usually revolving around the expectations that they're kid will magically speak fluent English after a few weeks of tutoring. One instance I remember (not English related) was when a kid at my old school trapped her fingers in the hinges of the door of a classroom whilst her classmate closed the door; leaving a piercing scream to echo through the school and the previously I-Pad indulged idle mother rushing over and suddenly appearing like she gave a damn. She demanded that the school take the kid to hospital and pay for fees (the child only had light brusing on her finger). Another incident involving hospital-loving parents was when a kid had a plastic ball hit him in the forehead at slow speed during a drilling game, with the mother bursting in and demanding that he be taken to hospital. These were isolated cases though I'm wondering if you have similar stories and are also equally worried about China's future generation of spoilt kids?

I'm sure this is tame compared to some: but I just loved the grandparent who would stare intently through the window for my entire lesson with her granddaughter every week.

Whenever we'd play a game, for the first few weeks she'd burst in through the door and SCREAM at my TA when her granddaughter wasn't picked first. It took her a few weeks to learn this was completely unacceptable. The poor kid (all of six years old) was absolutely mortified and would always burst into tears. Way to go granny!

Imagine if all kids had grandparents like that. How little sense of situation can these highly selfish people have ?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
