Q: What have you done lately that has been the cause of a Chinese guy/gal to "lose face"?
1. I bargained "too hard"
2. Bussed my own table at KFC
3. Ordered another beer without asking the host of a dinner
4. Changed my mind regarding lunch today
5. Complained to my landlord about the hot water
6. Decided not to buy a product after asking the clerk to get a sample for me. (blackboard)
7. Brought a shirt back to the seamstress to get it repaired after she f'd it up
Each of these instances I was told that someone near me would lose face.....a bit much don't you think?
I called a Taiwanese girl on a lie to her face and then proved it in front of her costumers
made her cry and then I walked off
not one of my best days and not proud of it
but she did make shore my delivery turned up 2 days latter

yeah it turn up quickly once I made it clear I was going to make life difficult to do business till it arrived
also 3 people walked out of the shop without buying anything when I called her on the lie
still not happy that it went that far but when push comes to shove what do you do?
I could maybe understand no. 3 and possibly no. 6 but the others??!! WTF?

Yup, truthfully, I was told I was making them lose face. I laughed at that, I guess that made them lose even more face.

My response to "You're making me lose face" is "I really don't care"
Some guy, mid twenties, followed me around for a full minute yelling "hey man hey man hey man hey man hey man" with his eyes clearly fixed on me, getting louder and louder as I ignored him more. Eventually I said, "要什么?" in a stern tone of voice and he almost cried. Later it was explained to me that I had been quite rude.
I did hug or kiss my girl friend in public, but she gets the eyes and people think she is with me for money. I said I do not care what other people think, it is none of their business. I do not watch or judge them, They are the ones with the bad mind.
So no more touching. China 1, Ted 0
well if that's losing face calling attention to jerks who try to cut in line. is my fav way to make assholes lose face
At the store the other day I had all my groceries ready to go and was using my card to pay. The phone rang and we had to wait for the line to clear. Meanwhile some guy walked up with a bottle of water. When the woman told him she wouldn't cancel my sale (cause she'd have had to ring in all the items again) and asked him to wait a second he put down the bottles and left in a huff.
Complained to head office when the school didn't give us pay-slips for months... then proved they'd been underpaying us significantly during that time.
This was a genuinely MASSIVE loss of face for my manger and her boss, but what the hell else were we meant to do? (NB: I don't have multiple personalities, this affected more than one person and we worked together to fix the problem...)

I'm glad there to here that there is only one voice in your head
It is sad however that we need to spell this out to others
